under 和 underneath的区别：1、二者意思不同。under是用来表示最平常的方位上面的“下”，例如：under the bed在床下。underneath则更加侧重 “覆盖”这种有外力存在的情况。例如：I'll leave the key underneath the mat.我会把钥匙放在垫子下面。2、二者特定所指不同。under常指在某物的正下放或官阶、职位直接在某人之下。 underneath常常用来代替under，特别用来表示完全或几乎完全隐蔽时，如：mines underneathe the city 城市之下的矿井。3、二者指代具体位置不同。under指某物在另一物的下面或底下，两者之间有无一定距离均可。如：Your bag is under the bed.你的包在床下面。而 underneath指所处位置时，强调在某物的正下方，而且较富有文学性。如：Many tourists enjoy feeling the warm sand beneath their feet.很多游客喜欢脚下踩着温暖沙子的感觉。
