一、mention的词义辨析：

not to mention, not to say这两个短语都可表示对某一事物的说明,但有区别。试比较：

1、I don't know English, not to mention French.

我连英语都不懂,更别说法语了。(两件事,追补)

2、It is warm today, not to say hot.

今天虽说不上多么热,可也够暖和了。(一类事,不同程度)

二、mention的用法：

1、mention是及物动词,可接名词、代词或动名词作宾语,还可接以that或疑问词引导的从句作宾语。可用于被动结构。mention偶尔也可接以as短语充当补足语的复合宾语。

2、mention不可用于mention sb sth 结构,“对…提起…”可以说mention sb/sth to sb 或mention to sb that/wh-clause结构。not to mention可用如连词,其后只接名词短语。

3、mention常与介词of连用。mention只有及物动词的用法，后面不可以接介词；mention后面也不可以接不定式，但可以接动名词和that引导的从句。

4、因为mention既是名词也是动词，所以在表示“值得一提”时，短语worth mention和worth mentioning都正确。
