2020年医学考博英语翻译特点：
普通英语词汇在医学考博英语英语中的意义转变，如“tender”本意为“柔嫩的”，在医学英语中常译为“压痛”，“plastic”本意为“可塑的、塑料的”，在医学英语中常译为“整形的”，而“labour”由原来的“劳动”变意为“分娩”。
从词源、词根的原意转译。从词源学的角度来看，在医学、药物的英语词汇中，希腊语、拉丁语的词素占有极高的比率。
据OscarE.Nybaken的统计，一万个最普通的英语词汇，约有46%来自拉丁语;7.2%来自希腊语，希腊、拉丁词素是医学英语词汇的重要和主要基础，从而反映医学英语比普通英语更具有“国际性”。
这和它们自身的特质相关，而前两种语言使用上较为“僵化”，一般在语言学上称为“死的”语言，它们的词汇不再发生词形、词义上的变化，并且都是高度综合性的语言。
因为它们拥有极丰富的词缀，与之不同的词干组成无数新词。以micro-为词头的词条在DictionaryofScientificandTechnicalTerms(DanielN.Lapedas主编)中有304个，以hydr-
(hydro-)为词头的词条有292个。所以，掌握医学英语中前缀、简单后缀、复合后缀极为重要。例如：前缀peri-“周围”，可构成：perinatal围产期的;periodontitis牙周炎;perifocal病灶;等等。
简单后缀-ia表示“某种情况、状态”;例如：ataxia“共济失调”;dementia“痴呆”;hypoplasia“发育不全”。复合后缀-megaly表示“巨大症”，如：hepatomegaly“肝肿大”;splenomegaly“脾肿大”;acromegaly“肢端肿大”。
在用词语方面，尤其是动词的使用，医学考博英语更多地使用规范的书面语动词来代替口语中的短语动词;如：用evaporate而不用to turn?into vapor;discover而不用to find out;absorb而不用to take in等等。
医学考博英语中大量使用动词或名词的派生词。很多描述各种现象、物质特征、数量、大小、水准、性质、状态等等的形容词大多是由动词式名词派生而成，例如：名词加-ic，-ious，-al;动词加-ing，-ive，-able等等。
