The prince was so sad that he sent his minister to visit the whole country to find out the girl who could wear the crystal shoes. Despite the hindrance of his stepmother and sister, the minister succeeded in finding Cinderella.

王子很伤心，于是派大臣至全国探访，找出能穿上这只水晶鞋的女孩，尽管有后母及姐姐的阻碍，大臣仍成功的找到了灰姑娘。

The prince was so happy that he asked Cinderella to marry him. Cinderella agreed. They lived happily ever after.

历史背景：

这个故事类型通常包含以下因素：一位善良而不幸的女主人公，女主人公母亲的离世，新家庭成员对女主人公的欺侮，帮助女主人公克服难题并最终为她带来幸福的神奇力量，用于识别女主人公的一件物事——鞋。

因此斯蒂·汤普森（Stith Thompson）在《民间文学母题索引》(Motif-Index of Folk Literature)中，把“灰姑娘”故事归为阿奈尔－汤普森故事类型。

我国唐代段成式在其编撰的《酉阳杂俎》续集《支诺皋》里所记录的《叶限》故事是世界上“灰姑娘”型民间故事的最早记载（约为公元9世纪中期）。在这个故事里，帮助女主人公的是鱼骨头，为她带来幸福的是只金履。

但因为《叶限》的记录年代更确切更久远，以及文本中所暗示的当时民众对此故事常有耳闻的语气，使得“叶限”故事看起来似更接近于此型故事的本来面目，因而有些学者由此认为该类故事起源于中国。

1697年，巴黎出版的佩罗(Charles Perrault)的《Histoires ou contes du temps passé，avec des moralités: Contes de ma mère l'Oye》（《鹅妈妈的故事》）。

在很长一段时间里，人们一直认为这本故事集中所收录的《灰姑娘Cinderella》故事是欧洲此类故事的最早记载。当然，在欧洲已发现了一些记录年代更早的故事异文，但是佩罗的“灰姑娘”故事却是有最大影响的一个。
