「合作」的英文 是？「collaborate」与「cooperate」两个单字中文意思都有「合作」的意涵，但究竟何时应该使用collaborate？哪些情况下又应该使用cooperate呢？

Collaborate 本身有共同合作、协作的意思，Collaborate 的意思通常有下面两个。
(1) Means: work together to produce or achieve something. 一起合作以完成某事或达成目标。
(2) Collaborate on a project / on an assignment 合作一项计画或任务
(3) 词性变化： collaborative (adj.) 合作的 collaboration (n.) 合作
例： The o men met and agreed to collaborate. 两人见面并同意合作。
例： She agreed to collaborate with him in writing her biography. 她同意与他合作撰写传记。
(1) Help someone in doing something 帮助某人做某件事
(2) If you cooperate, you can plete the project faster and everyone benefits.若你选择合作，你可以更快地完成这项计画而且每个人都能从中得利。
(3) 词性变化： cooperative (n.) 合作的、乐于合作的 cooperation (n.) 合作、协力
例： We have to cooperate with each other. 我们必须互相合作。
例： Let’s cooperate to get the work done quickly. 让我们合作以快速完成工作。
那么，既然 Collaborate 跟 Cooperate 都有合作的意思，他们的意思到底差在哪？
其实 Collaborate 比较像是合作里的每个人，都有个共同的愿景跟目标， Collaborate 会比较有大家一起团结的那种感觉。
而 Cooperate 比较没有这种团结感，例如警察要求歹徒合作一点，这时候就会用 Cooperate，因为歹徒跟警方合作，只对警方有利，对歹徒无利。
所以 Cooperate 更偏向是有一方会更有利（但还是要看情况），而不是说合作里的每个人都一定有利，或是像 Collaborate 一样，有个共同的愿景。
例： Local residents refused to cooperate with the police. 当地居民拒绝与警方合作。
如上方例子，当地居民跟警方没有共同愿景，跟警方合作也对当地居民不一定有利，这时候用 cooperate 会比较洽当。
用 Collaborate 的情况通常是，双方彼此都有个目标，一起合作的那种感觉。
