I wish to apply for the position of Co-op Civil Engineering Student as advertised in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba in December 2004. I am aware that your company ranks among the largest and oldest construction companies in North America and Kiewit projects are very diverse and exciting. I am very interested in this opportunity as I hope to pursue a career in the construction industry.
I am presently enrolled in third year Civil Engineering and my course work has included Structural Analysis and Design and Transportation Engineering. I am currently on the Dean’s Honor List and have been awarded the Association of Professional Engineer of Manitoba Scholarship for the past two years. In addition, I have worked one summer as an Engineering Aid for Manitoba Highways and Transportation and another summer as an Instrument Person for Brown & Company Land Surveyors. Other skills I would bring to this position are my strong work ethics, adaptability to new situations and strong leadership abilities. I am confident these skills combined with my university courses and my summer experiences give me the ideal background required for this Co-op position.
