1.简爱 Jane EyreJane Eyre is a first-person narrative of the title character, a small, plain-faced, intelligent and honest English orphan. The novel goes through five distinct stages: Jane's childhood at Gateshead, where she is abused by her aunt and cousins; her education at Lowood School, where she acquires friends and role models but also suffers privations; her time as the governess of Thornfield Manor, where she falls in love with her Byronic employer, Edward Rochester; her time with the Rivers family at Marsh's End (or Moor House) and Morton, where her cold clergyman-cousin St John Rivers proposes to her; and her reunion with and marriage to her beloved Rochester at his house of Ferndean. Partly autobiographical, the novel abounds with social criticism and sinister gothic elements.2. 返老还童Benjamin Button"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is a 1921 short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, first published in Colliers Magazine, and subsequently anthologized in his book。The story begins with the birth of the protagonist, Benjamin in 1860. Benjamin is born with the physical appearance of a seventy-year-old man, and when his father first visits him mere hours after his birth he is already able to speak. To avoid embarrassment, Benjamin's father forces him to shave his beard and dye his hair in order to look younger. He also forces Benjamin to play with the other neighborhood boys, and buys him toys and orders him throughout the day to play with them. Benjamin obediently plays with them, but only to please his father as Benjamin has more joy in smoking his father's cigars, reading encyclopedias, and talking to his grandfather. He is even sent to kindergarten at the age of five, but is quickly withdrawn from the class after repeated instances of falling asleep during child-oriented activities.

初中英文读书报告:
I have been reading a book for many days. The books name is CAT AND MOUSE IN A HAUNTED HOUSE. It is telling about Geronimo Stilton who is a newspaper mouse who runs newspaper in New Mouse City—the capital of Mouse island.
On one night of October, he decided to visit his aunt, Sweetfur. But he got lost when he was driving through the Dark Forest because of the foggy. Then his car was out of gas. He thought“I wish I was at home”.
Suddenly there was a lightning in the sky and he saw a big castle. When he walked closer to the front door, he saw two stone cats and a sign that says: To Canny Cat’s castle. The door bell was in one stone cat’s mouth. When Geronimo was deciding to go into the castle, it starts to rain, so he went into the castle……
At last Geronimo’s sister, little nephew Benjamin and his cousin Trap all came and helped him find out all of two little cat. They don’t want others to come into the castle because the castle is their ancestor Canny Cat’s. So they make many tricks.
After reading this story, I think it’s very interesting, and I had a lot of fun. My favorite character is Geronimo’s nephew Benjamin. Because he is very cute and clever, he always observes every detail. He found out the foot prink on the floor and the nail on the wall. In the story it shows Geronimo is a very timid mouse that always scared himself.
I like this story very much, so I’ll still read more this set of book.

My Impressions of A Farewell to Arms————my understanding of the endingAfter I have finished reading A Farewell to Arms, I was kind of trapped into some serious thoughts. Why? Why the author gave us such a sad ending when every reader hopes that the two characters of the novel can live a peaceful and happy life? Why he gave us a hope but tore it so cruelly? Of course we can understand that the author wanted to use this way to show the cruelty of the world, to appeal the everlasting hurt caused by the bloody war and the arms. However, is it a reasonable excuse to make us disappointed about the ending? What the earth is the book trying to tell us?Generally, A Farewell to Arms is about a beautiful but pathetic love story, a story of love and pain, of loyalty and desertion.Lieutenant Frederic Henry was a young American attached to an Italian ambulance unit on the Italian front during the time of World War I. He met an English nurse named Catherine Barkley and fell in love. Henry was sent to a hospital in Milan for an operation and Catherine was also there to help him recuperate. When Henry was heading back to the front again, he was told that Catherine was carrying their baby. When he executed his task, he was arrested by the Tagliamento military carabiniers. Though Henry was detained, in the dark of night he broke free, plunged into the river, and escaped on a log. Henry made his farewell to arms. Finally he found Catherine, and came to Montreaux, Switzerland. They led a happy and peaceful life there, waiting for the coming of their baby. However, the happy life didn’t last ever after. Catherine gave birth to a dead baby and she had had a hemorrhage herself. There was nothing Henry could do, no one he could talk to, no place he could go. Catherine was dead. He left the hospital and walked back to his hotel in the dark. It was raining. Then here again is the question, why the story leads to such a sorrowful ending? In my opinion, the tragedy is written. This novel is a look at war. As the novel and the war progress together, the varnish of honor, duty, adventure, and patriotism drift away from the lives of the Lieutenant Henry and the supporting characters. What's left is fear and disillusionment. Many of us would regard it as a perfect ending if it had stopped at the part of the reunion of Henry and Catherine. However, the truth is, life isn’t also a romantic fairy tale. War is such a ridiculous thing that soldiers fire their weapons with their tears and confessions. Nobody knows what they are fighting for, or what they are celebrating for.All the wars will be over one day, but the grief and wounds it brings us will be there forever. One may give a farewell to arms, but he can never give a farewell to that experience, for a permanently injury was already there. Thus, a sad ending is the only reasonable ending.这是我上个学期写的,关于海明威的《永别了武器》的读书报告 ,字数上你可以删减一些或者添加一些,随意
