Once upon a time, there was a monkey that met a crab and they travelled together in thejungle.

The active monkey found a fruit seed and the crab found a rice ball.

The monkey was greedy and said to the crab, 'Dear crab, let us exchange what we have! "

The crab agreed, so the monkey exchanged his seed for the crab's rice ball. He quicklyswallowed the rice ball.

As for the crab, he went back home and sowed the seed in the open field in front of his house.

Every day, he watered the plant carefully. The plant grew day by day. When summer came, thecrab took shelter under the tree that was now filled with branches and leaves.

When autumn came, the tree was fully grown with fruit. The crab was able to enjoy the fruitevery year.

One day, an old beggar went to the village. He knocked at the door of a rich man to beg forfood.

This was a big house and at the side was built a granary with a big padlock.

The owner of the house was a miser and he was known for never helping anyone.

The beggar was aware of his reputation but still pleaded.”Will you give me a bit of butter ormilk "'

The miser said impatiently, "No! Go away at once" "Perhaps you can sweep out for me a bit ofgrain or beans."

The hungry beggar continued. "There isn't anything in my house! " "How about a little bit ofbread?"

The beggar insisted. "Only a mouthful of food and I will be very grateful. " "Go away! I don’thave bread! " "How about some water? t am thirsty, "

'I don't have water.” The beggar then said sadly to him, My friend, why are you here? Youshould go to some kind-hearted folk to beg for food because you arc) poorer than anybodyeIse. "

At one stopover in a town, a huge banner was written in bold letters: FAMINE IN AFR/CA~ PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY TO SAVE THE STARVING PEOPLE.

A large crowd was queuing to hand over their donations.Near the door of the town hall stood a beautiful young girl, poorly but neatly dressed.

With shy glances she watched the people before her. She saw a merchant who laid a bag of 90ld on the table.

Then came a rich lady with haughty looks who offered a variety of jewels; some others handed cash, clothing's and foodstuff, The girl was reluctant to take her turn but at last, summoning up her courage, she stepped forward.

"But...it is so small I am ashamed to offer it. It seems worthless, but it is all I have, "she said.

"We are grateful for e\ten the smallest offering," the man at the counter replied kindly. "Here it is, I have nothing else to give," she added timidly, she drew under her cloak two long thick plaits of her golden hair.

As she did so, the hood of hercloak fell back, showing the beautifully young head shorn of its golden glory.

The generosity of this beautiful girl to donate her most priceless possession, her golden locks of hair, overshadowed all the glittering gold or j8wels of the other donors.

1:A Noisy Neighbor Barbara couldn’t take it any more. Her upstairs neighbor was blasting his stereo again. She had asked him twice already to turn the volume down. The first time she asked, he was surprised. He said he didn’t know that she could hear his stereo. "Yes," she said, "it’s just like your stereo was in my living room. I can hear every note!" He said he would keep it down. She hoped that he was telling the truth. Of course, he wasn’t. The very next day, he blasted his stereo. She marched upstairs to remind him of his promise. He said the volume was so low that he could barely hear it. She asked him to turn it lower. He said he would try. Barbara could swear that when she reentered her apartment, the music was louder than when she had walked upstairs. So, this was the third time. She took her baseball bat upstairs with her. She knocked very loudly on his door. When he opened the door, she screamed at him like a crazy person. She told him she would kill him if he didn’t turn the music down and keep it down. His eyes got big. She went back downstairs. She couldn’t hear a note. I can’t believe I said that, she told herself. 2:The Loose Button George wore a pair of blue shorts around the house. They were old, faded, and ugly, but they were comfortable. And when you are at home, you want to be comfortable. It wouldn't be called "Home, Sweet Home" if you didn't feel comfortable there. But when he put on his blue shorts one morning, the button was just hanging on by a thread. That single button was the only thing that held his shorts up. George could do two things. He could wait until the button fell off. When that happened, it would probably roll under the sofa and be lost forever. Or, he could sew the button on securely before it fell off. He found his sewing kit. He threaded the needle and tied a knot at the end of the thread. Then he started the needle through the cloth. He directed it through one of the holes in the button. Then he reversed direction. He put the needle back through a different hole, and then through the cloth again. He repeated this motion through all four button holes until the button was tight. Then he tied a bunch of knots in the last bit of thread and snipped off the excess thread. He put on the shorts and buttoned the button. It was strong. Good for another ten years, he smiled to himself. 3:Eddie's Short Visit Eddie drove over to see Betty. When he got to her apartment at about 3:15 p.m., he saw that her car wasn't in the carport. So he wrote a note: "Hi, Betty. I love you and I miss you. Love, Eddie." He was about to tape the note onto her front door when he saw her car pull up. She walked up the stairs. Instead of the big smile, hug, and kiss that she usually greeted him with, she simply said, "What's up?" "You didn't call me back for the last two days, honey, so I came over to see you." He gave her the note. She opened it, read it, and put it on the kitchen table. "That's sweet," she said. She walked into her bedroom. Eddie followed her. She put her purse on the bed. Eddie tried to hug her. "I have to wash my hands," she said. When she came out of the bathroom, she told Eddie that he should go home. She said that she was hungry and tired. She was going to fix something to eat. Then she was going to take a nap. She said that she might call him later. During Eddie's entire five-minute visit, Betty had constantly avoided his eyes. Instead of walking him out to his car, like she usually did, Betty locked her front door as soon as Eddie was outside her apartment.
