1、作及物动词的意思：继承;（按时间、顺序等）接着;从事;采用
2、作不及物动词的意思：理解;发生兴趣;由此产生;跟着人（或物）去（或来）
3、作名词的意思是：追随，跟随;[台球]推球，跟球打法（使竿击的球在击中目的球后继续滚动的打法）

3、follow from 由…产生，由…推断
4、follow the example of 效法，学习…的榜样

follow的用法：
1、follow可用作及物动词,也可用作不及物动词。用作及物动词时,接名词、代词作宾语。
2、follow作“从事,经营”解时,不直接以行业名称作宾语,而应以profession或trade等作宾语。
3、follow可用于存在句型。其位置在there之后,主语之前,主谓倒装。
4、follow可用于It follows that-clause结构,意思是“说明”“证明”。
5、as follows是个惯用语,不管主语是单数还是复数,也不管使用何种时态,都用as follows。
