My Favorite Artists It's hard to narrow it down to just a set list of artists as I have been influenced by so many artists over the years. I also fall in and out of love with particular artists, but a certain few always remain close to me.Brett Whiteley - Brett was my doorway into art. He showed me that painting can be more than what is simply in front of us. His drug habit ruined much of his art and life before he died, but he is still at the top of my list.Vincent van Gogh - Vinnie will always be near the top of my favorite painters list. Both his passion for art and his paintings have given me endless inspiration.Pablo Picasso - The little Spaniard lived a very full life but he still found plenty of time to draw, paint, and sculpt. Whenever I'm not working as much as I should be, I think of how many works Pablo pumped out each year.Egon Schiele - I have always had a love of drawing, so Schiele has to be on the list. His paintings are very average, but his drawings are to die for.Andy Warhol - To be honest, I don't really like the work of Andy Warhol. But he made artists feel a little less guilty for taking money from art collectors. He helped me see that it's OK to make a living from art.Alberto Giacometti - Alberto's paintings and drawings are just amazing. He sacrificed color to devote himself to form.Anselm Kiefer - I have never seen a whole exhibition by the artist, but the few works I have seen were pretty impressive. His works are massive chunks of paint and texture. There are so many more great artists that I just adore. I know that the seven artists above will still be in my top 20 in twenty years time though.

Recently, I have been reading a book named Communication Arts. In this book, the author Doctor Li introduces many methods to communicate with others successfully and tells readers why everyone should be a polite person. My favorite sentence in this book is “Everyone has potential, and everyone can determine your own future by developing positive psychological, mastering communication arts and showing your personality charm. In that way, you can have a wonderful life!”

During whole sections, this book tells us human should live in a large group, since people can’t solve all problems by their own. For that matter, human beings should learn a series of manners to deal with any situation which might happen wherever and whenever. After that, Doctor Li makes a point that people need to realize how to resolve disagreements between friends, families or colleagues. There always appears this kind of situation in social life, so it’s important to understand how to settle it. Finally he teaches us that communication techniques not only reflect in normal talk but also within body languages.

In each part of the book, the author takes a large number of examples in daily life to confirm his points. These examples in daily life are easy to understand and accept.

After reading the book, I find many shortages of my communication skills. I used to lack of patience when I talk to others, even got mad at them. This was impolite and might destroy relationships between my friends and me. Therefore I would try my best to improve myself and be welcome.

To get us started this semester I am going to spend the first two classes giving you background lectures about some basic cinematic concepts.

Once you are a little more familiar with basic film terminology, we will be ready to look at the history of movies in the United States.

You'll be expected to attend showing of films on Tuesday evenings at 7 o'clock in Jennings Auditorium. That's our lab.

Then during our Wednesday seminar, we'll discuss in depth the movie we saw the night before. We are not covering silent films in this course. We will begin with the first talking motion picture, The Jazz Singer, released in 1927.

The next week, we'll be looking at The Gold Diggers of 1933, a piece that is very representative of the escapist trend in films released during the depression.

Some of the films we will be watching will probably be new to you, like Frank Capra's Why We Fight. Others you might have already seen on TV like Rebel without A Cause starring James Deane, or Stanley Cooper's Doctor's Strange Love.

However, I hope you see even familiar film with new eye.

In the last three weeks of the course, we will be watching films from the 1980s and you'll choose one of them as a subject for an extensive written critique.

We'll talk more about the requirements of the critique later in this semester.

“Work while you work and play while you play, this is the way to be happy and gay. ”The .Art Festival① held in our school let us have a good time after the hard work of a long term .On Friday afternoon at the end of last term, our class, that is, Class 5 of Senior Two, had a wonderful party to celebrate this happy festival.

First we had music and dance----piano sonata②, exciting songs, brilliant waltz③ dance, then most popular disco④ music, etc, ---- all this made us extremely happy.

Then we had one competition after another. It was soon about five o'clock before we knew it. The most exciting program began: Cooking Competition . Each group of our class had to make some special dishes . At once students became cooks, though they coudn't tell the salt from gourmet powder⑤ the day before.

The art of living is to know when to hold fast and when to let go. 1For life is a paradox: it enjoins us to cling to its many gifts even while it ordains their eventual relinquishment. The rabbis of old put it this way: "A man comes into this world with his fist clenched, but when he dies, his hand is open." Surely we ought to hold fast to life, for it is wondrous, and full of a beauty that breaks through every pore of God's own earth. We know that this is so, but all too often we recognize this truth only in our backward glance when we remember what was and then suddenly realize that it is no more. 2We remember a beauty that faded, a love that waned. But we remember with far greater pain that we did not see that beauty when it flowered, that we failed to respond with love when it was tendered. A recent experience re-taught me this truth. I was hospitalized following a severe heart attack that had been in intensive care for several days. It was not a pleasant place. One morning, I had to have some additional tests. The required machines were located in a building at the opposite end of the hospital, so I had to be wheeled across the courtyard on a gurney. As we emerged from our unit, the sunlight hit me. That's all there was to my experience. Just the light of the sun, and yet how beautiful it was - how warming, how sparkling, how brilliant! 我所感受的就只有这阳光,它是如此美丽,如此温暖,如此璀璨和辉煌!I looken to see whether anyone else relished the sun's golden glow, but everyone was hurrying to and fro, most with eyes fixed on the ground. Then I remembered how often I, too, had been indifferent to the grandeur of each day, too preoccupied with petty and sometimes even mean concerns to respond, from that experience is really as commonplace as was the experience itself: life's gifts are precious-but we are too heedless of them.

How can we integrate art into life? I think I should make my heart beautiful first, or describe it with various adjectives similar to ethereal, crystal clear, deep, broad and generous. To borrow the famous French sculptor Auguste Rodin's famous saying: "There is no shortage of beauty in the world, but the eyes to find it." The same is true of art, which is already everywhere in life, but you just don't find it. Now, the task is to polish your eyes, tidy up your mind, and "break away" all the messy things. Try to achieve the ultimate conciseness before pursuing complexity. This process may have melted art into life.
