一、英语角的分类：
1、社会自由组织的英语角，例如上海的 人民公园英语角，始建于1978年，历史悠久；还有上海非常有有人气的F.E.C英语俱乐部，起步于2011年的交大徐家汇校区，因为其模式特别独特，还与 卡内基梅隆大学联合推出了其俱乐部定制的社交网络应用。
2、大学校园内的英语角，例如人大英语角，清华英语角，华师英语角等等。
3、社会机构开展的英语角，如 上海浦东图书馆等等。
二、英语角、英语沙龙、英语派对的区别：
1、英语角100%都在室外举行，如公园，广场，校园等等，参加者学生居多。
2、英语沙龙100%都在室内举行，如图书馆，教室，咖啡馆等等，参加者以社会人居多，英语沙龙的目的还是以提高英语口语为主，但由于参加人员多为社会人，因此话题更广泛，同时，相对于英语角，英语沙龙的口语水平往往更高，毕竟参加人员是早已离开学校的社会人。
3、英语派对100%在室内举行，如咖啡馆，白领会所等等，参加者基本为社会人，提高英语口语已经成了次要的目的，因为英语派对的参加者往往是外企人士，英语本来就是工作语言。参加 英语派对的目的主要是使用英语进行社交。语言本身是文化的载体，使用英语进行社交往往能突破很多的社交心理阻碍，从而进行更深的交流。
三、英语角的优势：
1、环境自然。
英语角一般都在晚上进行, 有夜幕这块最好的遮羞布。在白天, 可能你的每一个眼神, 每一个面部表情, 还有不小心犯错时的尴尬都会被对方看得一清二楚, 而在晚上你的这些担心要少得多。也就更容易“ 开口” 。曾经有人说“ 夜幕给了我勇气”就是这个道理。
2、气氛轻松。
与课堂相比, 气氛更轻松。在课堂上很多学生不愿意主动回答问题是因为害怕犯错。他们觉得在老师和熟悉的同学面前犯错是件丢人的事而在英语角这种担心也淡化了很多。没有老师在场很多学生没有心理压力, 往往能发挥得更好。
3、互动性强。
都是学习者, 心态一样, 距离更近。去英语角都是想提高自己英语水平尤其是口语的人, 也算得上是志同道合。所以当自己出错或一时无法正确表达某事时对方往往都表示理解, 而且还会尽力帮忙, 甚至还会说上几句安慰的话语。
4、增加自信。
由于以上原因, 一些平时非常内向的人, 在多去几次英语角之后, 往往也能鼓起勇气, 迈出艰难的第一步。在有了第一次经历以后才发现, 原来和陌生人对话也不是一件很难的事情。去英语角次数多了以后, 很多学生的“ 脸皮”会越来越“ 厚” , “ 面子问题”逐渐淡化, 甚至还会学到一些打破僵局的技巧。慢慢地, 这些人会不满足于仅仅在英语角展示自己。所以我们不难想象这些同学在课堂上的表现会更活跃在大街上碰到外宾需要帮助时也更有勇气。
