在西方一般叫Community Policing Office （CPO）或者Community Police Office，有一间或几间永久性办公室，在办公时间开放，一般有几个人值班（警员/文职/协警/志愿者），只能处理一些非常基本的警务工作。再小一点的报警点叫Police Box（存在于19世纪至20世纪初，和Police Pillar一样都有报警电话)。Police Box外观有点像国内的岗亭，仅仅作为巡逻警员的中转点。比CPO大一点的是precinct/detachment/district, 相当于国内的派出所（或者分局），有完整的警务能力。一个precinct一般有巡警，刑警，社区警务，前台，法证，档案和拘留所等股。比Precinct再大的就是总部（HQ）了。Police Station是一个泛称，CPO, Precinct, HQ都可以叫Police Station。
