导语： 汉译英的时候，成语、谚语等是比较难翻的。但有些中文谚语，你不需要去费劲地翻译，因为英文中就有与它们完全对应的说法。不信的话我们一起来看看以下由我整理的相关内容!
一、两害相权取其轻
墨家创始人墨翟在《大取》中说：“利之中，取大，害之中取小也。” 后世将这两句名言演绎为“两利相衡取其重，两害相权取其轻。”
巧合的是，英文谚语“Choose the lesser of two evils.” (或 “Of two evils choose the lesser.” 或 “Choose the lesser evil”)所指的“在两害中选择较轻者”，也反映出西方人同中国人一样，认为“壮士断腕”式的行为，是迫不得已之中的.理性行为。毒蛇螫手之后，断腕之害总比毒液攻心致死较轻较小!
二、家丑不可外扬
“家丑不可外扬” 是中外共同的人情世故。英文短语：“(to) wash/air one's dirty linen in public.” 可以说极其生动形象地描述了传扬家丑的不堪入目：“在公众地方洗自己的内衣裤。” 这种比喻十分传神，暗喻人应当wash one's dirty linen at home.
三、行百里者半九十
西方有一句十分睿智的谚语：“He laughs best who laughs last.” (或作：He who laughs best laughs last.)意为：谁笑到最后，谁笑得最好。其用意是劝人不要高兴得太早，要力争最后的胜利。
而中国也有一句精神与之相同的睿智成语：“行百里者，半于九十”。(出自《战国策·秦策五》)即：走一百里路的人，以九十里作为半数。其用意时强调“末路之难”，也是劝人慎终如始，指出越是接近成功，困难就越大，因此越要加倍警惕，加倍努力。
四、上屋搬下屋，少了三箩谷
西谚说：“Three removes are as bad as a fire.”(Moving three times is as bad as a fire.)
这句话对于几经搬屋的人而言，确实是深有体会的经验之谈。在中国谚语中，也有类似的告诫，例如：“上屋搬下屋，少了三萝谷。” “上屋徙下屋，失去一箩谷。”
五、树大招风
中文所谓“树大招风”指名气大、地位高容易招致别人妒忌和攻击。
西方谚语也有类似的说法：“Tall trees catch much wind.” 同样表示位高势危或人怕出名猪怕壮，不过所用的比喻是“树高”招风而不是“树大”招风。
六、金玉其外
明·刘基在《卖柑者言》中揭穿某些权贵表面风光而实质上腐朽不堪：“观其坐高堂，骑大马，醉醇醴而饫肥鲜者，孰不巍巍乎可畏，赫赫乎可象也?又何往而不金玉其外，败絮其中也哉!”
西方谚语之中，也有批判“金玉其外”的警句：“All is not gold that glitters."(源自英国文豪莎士比亚的名言:"All that glisters is not gold.")意思是：那些闪闪发亮的好看东西不一定珍贵或有用。直译则是：闪亮的未必全是金子。
七、未为晚也
西谚说: "Better late than never. " (迟到总胜过不做。)
的确，迟来的春天也是春天，中国人在对待“迟”的问题上，似乎较为乐观，《老子第四十一章》有云：“大器晚成，大音希声。”认为贵重器物需较长时间才能制造出来(以比喻大才之人成就较晚)，因此“迟”只是换取更大成效的一种代价，而这种代价是值得支付的，也是必须忍痛支付的。
八、过早欢喜
西谚所谓“Count one's chickens before they are hatched." 指过早乐观的人就像“蛋未孵出便点算小鸡数目”，是不足为训的，因为凡事都有变数存乎其中，有可能出现意料之外的结果。
因此，中国名言：“先忧事者后乐者，先乐事者后忧事。”(出自《大戴礼记·曾子立事》)所蕴含的高深智慧，是值得牢牢记取的。它阐明了事务的发展规律：由于客观现实存在极多的复杂因素，主观愿望不一定能够实现，但“先忧事”的人却可以有备无患。
