这种现象在语言学中叫做“借词输出”。经查此单词确实与粤语有关。“茄汁”粤音[ke4 zap1]。不过在英语中出现粤音词也不是现有的现象了。如果楼主对粤语感兴趣的话，我还可以举出几个例子。
如“taxi”，“的士”粤音[dik1 si6](香港语言学会拼音），根据浊辅音清化的原则，与taxi发音就类似了。
又如“香港Hong Kong”主流粤语（广州话，港式粤语）粤音[hoeng1 gong2],水上广东话（疍家话）[hong1 gong2]。Hong Kong一词正是由使用粤语的次方言（疍家话）的早期香港渔疍家民口中传入英语的。
