在世界经济全球一体化不断加剧的趋势下，我国对外经济交流活动频繁，国际竞争也迈入了一个新的时期。商务英语翻译的作用在经济活动中的重要作用也日益凸现。本文从词汇和句式两方面分析商务英语语言上的特点，并介绍了词汇和长句的翻译方法。On the trend of economic globalization, China’s external communications become more and more, meanwhile, the international competition entered a new era. The Business English Translation is playing an increasingly important role in economic activities. The article will analyze the characteristics of Business English Translation separately from vocabularies and patterns, and introduce the way to translating vocabularies and long sentences.一、引言Introduction商务英语是商务环境中使用的英语，它是专门用途英语（English for Specific Purposes 或English for Special Purposes, 简称ESP）的一种。其词汇和句式的特征表现得十分突出，只有把这些特征、翻译方法和商务知识有机地联系在一起，才能准确地翻译好商务英语，不会造成错译、误译。The Business English is normally used in the business circumstance. It is one of ESP (English for Specific Purposes or English for Special Purposes), and has fairly obvious characteristics in vocabularies and patterns. Only the characteristics, way of translation and the business knowledge are combined efficiently, correct and accurate translation could be completed, and the errors and mistakes in translation could be avoided.二、 商务英语语言特点The linguistic characteristics in the Business English.1.词汇方面的特点。Characteristics in vocabularies.(1)多用专业词汇，商务英语拥有数量可观的专业词汇，带有很强的专业性，并且词义专一。如:stock(n.)存货repeat order重复订购confirmed L/C(n.)保兑信用证(1) Translators should try to use more professional vocabulary. There are a great amount of professional vocabulary in Business English, which are of intensive specialty and unique meaning, such as stock(n.)存货repeat order重复订购confirmed L/C(n.)保兑信用证certified letter of credit. (2)用语简洁，在口语和书面语中，尽量避免拖沓、繁琐的语言。如: 用unwarranted(a.)而不用without justification/reason，用pay而不用make a payment(2)Translators should use concise words and avoid those lengthy and trivial in oral and written expression. For instance, rather choose the word ‘unwarranted (a.)’ than the word ‘without justification/ reason’ and choose the word ‘pay’ than the word ‘make a payment’.2.句式上的特点。Characteristics in patterns.(1)多用长句:商务英语在句式上具有长句多，有时整个一大段就是一个长句。如： As we now desire to have the shipment insured at your end, we shall be pleased if you will arrange to insure the goods on our behalf against All Risks at invoice value plus 10%,i.e.USD 2,200.00. 我们现在想把这批货在你处保险。 如果你能代我们按发票金额加10%，即2,200.00 美元,投保一切险,我们将很高兴。(1)Try to use the long sentences. The Business English has the characteristics of many long sentences. Sometimes, a paragraph is only one long sentence. For example, As we now desire to have the shipment insured at your end, we shall be pleased if you will arrange to insure the goods on our behalf against All Risks at invoice value plus 10%,i.e.USD 2,200.00. 我们现在想把这批货在你处保险。 如果你能代我们按发票金额加10%，即2,200.00 美元,投保一切险,我们将很高兴。(2)多用被动语态:在汉语中，被动句的使用非常有限，而在商务英语中，被动句的使用要明显多于汉语。一般是当动作发者这没有必要被提到或者很难说出施动者是谁，又想强调的是动作的承受者时使用。如:Visitors are requested not to touch the exhibit.参观者请不要用手触摸展览品。 (2)Try to use the Passive Voice. The Passive Voice is used very little in Chinese but very often in Business English. Passive Voice are used normally on the occasion that on the one side, the act sender is unnecessary to be mentioned or who is the act sender is uncertain, on the other side, the act receiver is required to be stressed. For instance, Visitors are requested not to touch the exhibit.参观者请不要用手触摸展览品。三、商务英语的翻译方法The way of Business English Translation1.一词多译。商务英语中词汇的翻译要根据前后搭配、上下文的联系准确选择。如：Premium这个词有如下的汉译a.保险费b.额外费用；附加费c.超出平常价;溢价One word has various meaning. In the Business English, the meaning of the word to be translated should be accurately chosen according to the context and coherence. For example, the word ‘Premium’ has the following Chinese meaning, a.保险费b.额外费用；附加费c.超出平常价;溢价2.专业术语。 在普通英语中是非常熟悉的词，在商务英语中却表达着其他意思。如:kite空头支票，delivery order 提货单， short bill短期汇票。There are many professional terms which are familiar in daily English but have different meaning in Business English. Such as, kite空头支票，delivery order 提货单， short bill短期汇票。3.长句的处理。商务英语中长句的构成成分主要是定语从句和状语从句。要翻译好这些长句,不能受原文长句结构的影响，应该将译文的结构作相应的调整。如:After all, only a few years earlier the company had successfully opened a Disney theme park in Japan, bridging the enormous differences between Japanese and American cultures. Euro Disney, at least initially, proved to be another story entirelyHow to deal with the long sentences? The main compositions of the long sentences in Business English are Attributive Clause and Adverbial Clause. Translators should not be affected by the structure of the original long sentences if you want to make a good translation. Before translating these sentences, you should do some relative adjustment to the structures of them. For example, ‘After all, only a few years earlier the company had successfully opened a Disney theme park in Japan, bridging the enormous differences between Japanese and American cultures. Euro Disney, at least initially, proved to be another story entirely’
