这里有一个流传很广的故事。传说,古时候有一种身黑手白的小妖,名字叫"祟",每年的年三十夜里出来害人,它用手在熟睡的孩子头上摸三下,孩子吓得哭起来,然后就发烧,讲呓语而从此得病,几天后热退病去,但聪明机灵的孩子却变成了痴呆疯癫的傻子了。人们怕祟来害孩子,就点亮灯火团坐不睡,称为"守祟"。 在嘉兴府有一户姓管的人家,夫妻俩老年得子,视为掌上明珠。到了年三十夜晚,他们怕祟来害孩子,就逼着孩子玩。孩子用红纸包了八枚铜钱,拆开包上,包上又拆开,一直玩到睡下,包着的八枚铜钱就放到枕头边。夫妻俩不敢合眼,挨着孩子长夜守祟。半夜里,一阵巨风吹开了房门,吹灭了灯火,黑矮的小人用它的白手摸孩子的头时,孩子的枕边进裂出一道亮光,祟急忙缩回手尖叫着逃跑了。管氏夫妇把用红纸包八枚铜钱吓退祟的事告诉了大家。大家也都学着在年夜饭后用红纸包上八枚铜钱交给孩子放在枕边,果然以后祟就再也不敢来害小孩子了。 到了明清时,压岁钱大多数是用红绳串着赐给孩子。民国以后,则演变为用红纸包一百文铜元,其寓义为"长命百岁",给已经成年的晚辈压岁钱,红纸里包的是一枚大洋,象征着"财源茂盛"、"一本万利。英文名:Red packets【红包由来】 派“红包”是华人新年的一种习俗,华人喜爱红色,因为红色象征活力、愉快与好运。 派发红包给未成年的晚辈(根据华人的观念,已婚者就算成年),是表示把祝愿和好运带给他们。红包里的钱,只是要让孩子们开心,其主要意义是在红纸,因为它象征好运。因此,在分派红包的长辈面前打开红包,是不礼貌的做法。 民间认为分压岁钱给孩子,当恶鬼妖魔或"年"去伤害孩子时,孩子可以用这些钱贿赂它们而化凶为吉。清人吴曼云《压岁钱》的诗中云:"百十钱穿彩线长,分来再枕自收藏,商量爆竹谈箫价,添得娇儿一夜忙"。由此看来,压岁钱牵系着一颗颗童心,而孩子的压岁钱主要用来买鞭炮、玩具和糖果等节日所需的东西。 现在长辈为晚辈分送压岁钱的习俗仍然盛行,压岁饯的数额从几十到几百不等,这些压岁钱多被孩子们用来购买图书和学习用品,新的时尚为压岁钱赋予了新的内容。 【红包文化】 送「红包」和收「红包」,是华人长久以来的传统习俗。红包文化原先是出自于中国人礼尚往来的一种正常人际关系,体现和谐相处的友好情结。过去几百年以迄于今,红包往来从本质上来说,还是以这个意义居多。 不过送红包更为普遍的意义,一是给晚辈一种「关爱」,压岁钱、生日祝愿都含有平安吉祥的寓意;二是婚嫁喜庆「有喜当贺」的礼仪,以及亲友初会、相聚互馈祝愿的表示;再一种则是完全出自内心感戴之情的酬谢。 而回馈他人辛劳,给喜娘、道士、僧尼、轿夫、吹鼓手、车夫等等的红包,一般又叫作「花彩」,今天则是「小费」。应该说红包文化除了体现中国人注重礼尚往来外,还有受惠不忘施予者,也有不敢忘恩负义的心态。 全球七大洲,凡有华人的地方,红包文化都赫然存在,并堂而皇之。旅居海外的华人返乡省亲祭祖时,例行都要给亲友族人送红包。由于人有亲疏,礼分厚薄,所送出的红包也就有大、中、小三档,见什么人发什么红包,这也是红包文化的一个特征。 在异国他乡,一些与华人有往来的其它族裔朋友,对华夏的红包文化也是随俗例行,民间如此,社区、公司也奉行如仪。 上世纪最后一个龙年春节,时任旧金山市长的布朗,正月初一与华人共贺新禧时,也给与会民众派发红包压岁钱,把节日气氛中美文化交融表现得淋漓尽致。 更有甚者,一些银行、商家在春节期间,从楼宇高处往下撒放红包,漫天飞舞宛如落英缤纷,街心人众如潮汹涌,争先趋之若鹜。人们「冲」的不是那小红包内微不足道的一美元,「求」的是能得到红包图个吉利,来年招财进宝。 戏曲舞台于新春演出时,剧中有挨杀、暴毙或披戴孝的角色,戏班老板要给扮演者送红包,让他们拿去煮碗太平面吃,既作补偿奖励又为除晦消灾。此习俗至今许多剧团仍在例行。就是平日里剧团在乡间演出,观众给剧中人(其实就是演员)送红包,也是屡见不鲜。 去年笔者返乡到福建长乐县看戏,剧中演到一书生在法场哭诉冤屈,令观众掬一把同情之泪。此时有一位著时装的观众走上台去,把一个红包插在这个将要「斩首」的书生发髻上。 处于这种情况,台上演员不受干扰照演照唱,台下观众也不以为怪还啧啧称赞。大家都明白此乃「善举」,既同情冤屈者,又为演员送去晦气迎来吉祥。 上世纪四○年代,上海一电影公司拍部新片,剧中有一「洋人」被枪杀。事后出品人给那位客串「洋人」的外国朋友送上一个红包。对方知道红包就是钱,但不知这钱是什么钱。当他知道这是「消灾吉祥钱」时不禁哈哈大笑,还说以后有「枪毙」时再找他。 所有这些不属于礼仪上的红包,则寓有消灾祛邪、祈求平安吉祥,与恻悯怜恤藉慰精神之意 本来嘛,红包往来纯粹出于真心诚意,绝无交易污垢。可是自上世纪七○年代末在中国这个红包文化发源地,随著政策开放,给掌权者——掌握乌纱权的、物资分配权的,以及校长、医生、评委、裁判、监管,乃至小吏、门卫、火葬场职工……送礼的风气漫开,红包遂逐渐变味,送红包也渐渐有了「行情」,形成可怕的「陋规」。既是行情,不但心照不宣,而且「论斤计两」、「按质议价」。这样的红包收授,实际上就是「贿赂」,红包也赤裸裸抛开「红纸袋」面纱,有的用大信封,有的用牛皮纸袋,有的用香烟筒、糕点盒,有的干脆打开皮包亲见现钞。 说到红包「异化」,为虐莫甚于花在医疗看病这一头。其它的求人谋事,倘若你不想跑官,不屑发横财,不急求职称,不拟拿奖牌,儿孙也不一定非上重点学校不可,那么你大大可以不理睬那些掌权者的潜规则、红包行情表。 可是有病痛者不但不可避免,而且非求医问药不行。尤其是得了大病,要住院开刀动手术,就得倚重医生、护士和医院里许多相关人员来解决,麻烦得很。然而患病治疗是攸关性命的事,再麻烦也要想办法克服,这时唯有红包效应才能解决。 其实从病家给医生送红包到「白衣天使」向病家索红包,是有个演变过程的。 大约在三十年前吧,那个年代医生的工资不高,而已经被允许个体经营的小商贩手工艺匠的收入却增长得很快,以致社会上流传著这么一个说法:「拿手术刀的不如拿剃头刀的;造核导弹的不如卖茶叶蛋的。」 拿剃头刀的指的是理发匠,拿手术刀的指的是外科大夫。彼时做小买卖干手工活的一天能赚十几、二十几块钱,而一般的外科医生一个月工资还不到百元。当时知识份子劳动价值很不被重视。 外科医生一天最少也有一到二个手术,一般小手术前后也要二、三小时,稍微大点的得要花好几个小时,误餐过点是经常的事,待手术完成主刀医生已经是汗流浃背、精疲力尽了。 医生做完手术走出手术室第一件事就是对守在门口的病人家属说「手术很成功」。家属此时的心情可想而知,再看看为挽救自己亲人性命的医生这般辛苦劳累,真感动得热泪盈眶连声道谢。出于感恩心情,有的遂把早已准备好的红包,恭恭敬敬地送到医生面前。 刚开始绝大部分医生也是婉辞,但是经不住病人家属再三而又十分诚挚的恳求,有的甚至跪下说若是不收他们就不起来……。 当时医生收红包,在「行政」上并没有规定不许,相反地,在病家和医院同事的眼里这还是一种荣誉、一种褒奖呢,所以那个时候医生收红包是很光明磊落的。因为医生给患者动手术,是要担风险的,手术成功后授受红包,也有平安吉祥庆贺之意,更何况当时的红包也不过区区五元十块而已。 不过这当中得有个「界线」,病家给医生送红包一定要在手术之后或者患者病愈出院时。可以这么说,送红包的时间界定了它的性质,是感恩的表示,还是等价交换的「买卖」,分得很清楚。 可是随著市场经济的出现,医疗领域从服务型变成产业型,强调按经济规律办事。于是医生收红包开始异化,医患之间的关系变成赤裸裸的商业交易,说严重点,就是成了金钱与生命的交易。商场有句话叫做一手交钱一手交货,这会儿可用得上是一手红包一手开刀。 什么意思?就是说「红包不到位,开刀等排队」。再者,索红包不仅仅是主刀大夫,其它助手、麻醉师、相关技师、化验员、护士长、当值护士等等,都要红包打理摆平,缺漏了一个环节都可能有负面后果。 以致在社会上形成了一种共识,病家不给医生送红包,患者的病就始终会「悬」在那里。纵然有个别人格高尚德术双馨的医生拒收红包,病家反而觉得心不踏实、疑虑万千,总是想方设法找门路托熟人,哭求跪拜务必要医生收下红包。此咄咄怪事,令人哭笑不得。 红包往来原是一种很美好的文化现象,岂料当它一旦异化,腐蚀人的良知、扭曲纯洁灵魂时,竟是如此触目惊心。但愿这种丑陋的现象终会被真善美所替代,回归红包原先的正面意义。 派“红包”是华人新年的一种习俗,华人喜爱红色,因为红色象征活力、愉快与好运。 派发红包给未成年的晚辈(根据华人的观念,已婚者就算成年),是表示把祝愿和好运带给他们。红包里的钱,只是要让孩子们开心,其主要意义是在红纸,因为它象征好运。因此,在分派红包的长辈面前打开红包,是不礼貌的做法。 春节拜年时,长辈要将事先准备好的压岁钱分给晚辈,据说压岁钱可以压住邪祟,因为“岁”与“祟”谐音,晚辈得到压岁钱就可以平平安安度过一岁。压岁钱有两种,一种是以彩绳穿线编作龙形,置于床脚,此记载见于《燕京岁时记》;另一种是最常见的,即由家长用红纸包裹分给孩子的钱。压岁钱可在晚辈拜年后当众赏给,亦可在除夕夜孩子睡着时,由家长偷偷地放在孩子的枕头底下
