CG，Computer Graphics的英文缩写，是通过计算机软件所绘制的一切图形的总称，随着以计算机为主要工具进行视觉设计和生产的一系列相关产业的形成，国际上习惯将利用计算机技术进行视觉设计和生产的领域通称为CG。
它既包括技术也包括艺术，几乎囊括了当今电脑时代中所有的视觉艺术创作活动，如平面印刷品的设计、网页设计、三维动画、影视特效、多媒体技术、以计算机辅助设计为主的建筑设计及工业造型设计等。
游戏CG的艺术设计：
包括二维、三维的，静止画、动画（movie），从自由创作、服装设计、工业设计、电视广告（CM）到网页设计，可谓包罗万象。
CG作者经常把他们的作品放于网站画廊供读者欣赏其艺术风格。他们也可以被雇佣成为商业工具，销售manga或doujinshi，以及工艺书籍和作品资料CD等。典型的CG网页会有一段有关网站的艺术风格、已完成作品、图形样本和友情链接的介绍。
有一些美国作者也采用了这种表现形式，但比不上日本人多产。日本网站上经常提供各种日式动画和日式漫画片段。许多图片未经作者同意就用于收费网站，而读者也无从得知其创作者。在1994年，非日式动画/漫画的CG网站也很普遍了。
