艾滋病的英文是 Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome，简称Aids。
艾滋病（AIDS）是一种危害性极大的传染病，由感染艾滋病病毒（HIV）引起，HIV是一种能攻击人体免疫系统的病毒。它把人体免疫系统中最重要的CD4T淋巴细胞作为主要攻击目标，大量破坏该细胞，使人体丧失免疫功能。
预防艾滋病病毒感染的主要措施包括以下几种：
1、切断艾滋病病毒的性接触传播，洁身自好不滥交，拒绝一夜情，保持唯一性伴侣，正确使用安全套，进行安全的性行为。
2、拒绝毒品，不共用针具。
3、避免医源性的艾滋病传播，在医疗操作中避免不必要的注射与输血。如有必要，应要求使用经检验合格的血液和血制品。
4、阻断艾滋病的母婴传播途径，在产妇孕检中发现艾滋病病毒感染，不论其CD4阳性的T淋巴细胞多少，均应在其生产前给予合适的抗病毒药物进行治疗，并对胎儿和新生儿进行预防性的治疗，对艾滋病的传播可起到一定的阻断作用。
5、发生高危行为后，如果有可能，应尽早使用艾滋病阻断药物。
