news是个不可数名词，虽以-s结尾，但具有单数意义；作主语时，谓语动词须用单数形式。表示“条”“则”时不可直接用不定冠词或数词修饰。“一则消息”可说a piece〔bit,scrap〕 of news，“几条消息”可说pieces of news；报刊上刊登的“一则新闻”可以说an item of news或a news item，“多则新闻”则是items of news或news items。
