“丙辰中秋，欢饮达旦，大醉，作此篇，兼怀子由”，借苏轼的“望月思人”之情“怀古”，追念那一段血泪交加的悲情历史。抗战和动荡中长夜漫漫，明月几时有?可明月终会有，就像它的英文译名所说，Our Time Will Come。

该片取材于真实的历史人物和事件，讲述以香港传奇女性“方姑”为代表的仁人志士克服重重困难，将何香凝、柳亚子、茅盾、邹韬奋等数百 文化 名人及爱国民主人士成功营救出战火纷飞的香港。许鞍华以“明月几时有”为题，大抵是在向那些无名英雄致敬。无数个籍籍无名的人共同在黑暗中穿梭，纵使人微势轻，也如流光同皎洁。

When did the bright moon first appear?

Wine-cup in hand, I ask the blue sky.

I do not know what time of year

It would be tonight in the palace on high.

Riding the wind, there I would fly,

But I'm afraid the crystalline palace would be

Too high and too cold for me.

I rise and dance, with my shadow I play.

On high as on earth, would it be as gay?

赏析：

苏轼在朝为官，但与变法者王安石等人政见不同，自求外放。与胞弟苏辙分别之后，七年未能相见。趁中秋团圆夜，凭诗寄情。整首词飘逸潇洒，意境开阔。

开头把酒问天，问“明月几时有”，与李白的《把酒问月》异曲同工。译文用常见的独立主格结构呈现了这一句：Wine-cup in hand, I ask the blue sky.

常言道：天上一日，人间一年。与弟弟经年未见，望着明月，作者不禁幻想天上宫阙是何景象。译文在此处用了riding the wind表示“乘风”，对于ride的选词很多人存在不同看法，以为此处用in the wind 或 with the wind即可。

原诗中的“琼楼玉宇”表示“美玉砌成的楼宇”，但译文中避开了美玉的意象，采用crystalline一词，表示“水晶般的宫殿”，不知许老先生在翻译时是否想到了广寒宫，在美玉和水晶中选择了看起来更清冷的后者。最后一句“何似在人间”的翻译也值得一说，译文的意思是“天上和人间貌似一样，但也和人间一样快活吗?”，“gay”除了表示同性恋，还可以表示“充满乐趣”的意思。不过用在这里，大概押韵的用意更多，毕竟表达乐趣的词不止gay一个。

With gauze windows to shed

There has been nothing perfect since olden days.

So let us wish that man live as long as he can!

Though miles apart, we'll share the beauty she displays.

赏析：

这一段中有不少脍炙人口的佳句，如“人有悲欢离合，月有阴晴圆缺，此事古难全。但愿人长久，千里共婵娟”，这几句的英译文极好，很值得借鉴或直接背诵。这里想说的是第一句，月亮转过朱红的楼阁，挂在雕花的窗上，照着丝毫没有睡意的自己。

这句译文很巧妙，将“照无眠”译作shed her light upon the sleepless bed。无眠的是人，译文中却用sleepless来形容bed。而床无眠只有一种情况，就是人没有躺在上面，侧面映衬了作者毫无睡意，可能正站在床前赏月吧。

明月什么时候出现的？（我）端着酒杯问青天。不知道天上的神仙宫阙里，现在是什么年代了。（传说神仙世界里只过几天，地下已是几千年，故此设问。）我想乘着风回到天上（好象自己本来就是从天上下到人间来的，所以说“归去”），只怕玉石砌成的美丽月宫，在高空中经受不住寒冷（传说月中宫殿叫广寒宫）。在浮想联翩中，对月起舞，清影随人，仿佛乘云御风，置身天上，哪里象在人间！
