学口语就是学说话。学习英语口语就是学习以英语为母语的人是怎么说话的。在真正开始学习说英语之前,下边的问题您必须要弄清楚: 什么是口语? 学什么口语?口语学什么?建立什么口语系统? 一、什么是口语? 从对语言的认知过程来看,人类从来都是先会说话再会认字的。学英语也应该先学说话,即学习英语口语,而中国的英语学习者大多数都是通过书面语在学英语。我们应该清楚,口语是不同于书面语的。人们说话时随意性很大,而书面语则讲究文字的选择和语法规则。 书面语有两种基本形式:一种是直接记录人们说话内容的,另一种则按照书面语的规范,由写作者花费脑筋创作出来的。而口语不是这样,绝大多数的人以简单明了的方式说话,达到直接交流的目的。因此,学习英语口语也应当从简单明了,便于掌握的口语材料入手。 二、学什么口语? 从两个方面了解这个问题。第一是英语的区域性问题。你要学哪个国家或地区的英语口语呢?英国话?澳大利亚话?新西兰话?美国话?加拿大话?这些不同国家的英语都在发音、词汇、表达方式(语法)上有不同程度的区别。尤其在口音上更为明显。这也是许多英语学习者英语学了多年但听英语仍很吃力的一个主要原因。至于有的英语教师说“管他什么地方的英语,只要是英语就行”,这实在是在误导学生!想想看,以上不同地区的人相互见面也得花些时间熟悉彼此的发音和用语,之后才能真正交流,何况我们这些学习英语的外国人呢。不同地区的华人用汉语交流时不也是如此吗?英语区域变体的这个问题是实实在在存在的。 另有一个问题更重要:哪个档次的口语。您学习哪种人的说话方式:一般老百姓直白的表达?文化人讲究的说话方式?电台、电视台节目主持人那样高级的语体?我们必须清楚,以上每一种说话方式都存在发音、词汇和表达方式的特殊性和相对应性。而这个问题又都罩在“非正式”和“正式”两种语言环境之中。您需要好的老师和书籍告诉你什么是“非正式场合里的英语”,什么是“正式场合的英语”。换言之,学习说话最终的层次应该是“见什么人说什么话”。 三、口语学什么? 前边两个问题清楚了,接下来就是具体的学习内容:英语的口语到底学什么?这个问题将影响您的整个学习过程,涉及学习时间的设定、付出的精力乃至金钱的多少。根据语言学习的性质和规律,学习外语口语的内容应该归纳成以下三个方面: 词儿,串词儿,习惯发音。1、词儿词儿就是学校里讲的词汇。首先的问题是量:多少词汇才能让你会说话?想想你平常说汉语时能用多少个单字和短语就可以得出答案。英语也一样。英语民族比汉语民族思维方式或许要简单得多,说话所用的词汇会更少,有人统计过,大约三百个已经足够了。 如果我们定到三百个词儿,接下来的问题就非常具体了:它们是什么?答答是简单的:描述自我的词儿,描述他人、他事的词儿,社交的词儿。这三百个词儿应该是英语本族人口语会话中使用频率最高的词汇,你背单词和短语的时间应该花在这上面。 2、串词儿习惯习惯就是按英语本族人的口语习惯把词儿串起来的能力,这可以叫“口语语法”。我们把串起来的句子分为三个方面:描述自我的句子,描述他人、他事的句子,社交的句子。您应该学习这些方面的句子或句式。此外,还要弄清楚英语本族人口语中经常使用的动词时态。 3、发音首先要确定选哪国的英语口音:英式的?澳式的?美式的?选定哪种英语口音要看您学习的目的:到哪一个国家留学或定居?您工作的外企公司是哪国的?如果这都不是您的直接目的,学哪一种口音似乎无关紧要。但重要的是,无论您选择哪一种,您最好要学像,学说外国话最忌讳的是南腔北调。 学习英语口语发音的内容有三个:音、腔、调。首先要掌握单音的发音要领。单音不要搞得太细,因为单音发得再准,如果没有让英语本族人听着顺耳的腔也不能算地道地表达。“腔”指的是英语单词音节的轻重和在话语中高低的变化(在中国语音书上称“节奏”)。中国人说英语不地道的一个主要原因就是腔不到位。显然,发音学习的主要精力要放在腔上。此外,你得学会英语本族人用语调传递信息和表达情感变化的习惯。这是学习说英语的高级境界。 最后,学完以上三个方面之后您必须根据下边几个标准来检测自己的口语水准,看看您是否能达到:100%的准确性;100%的地道性;文化差异的知晓性。 四、建立什么口语系统? 我们必须清楚:作为外语,对一般人来说,不可能把英语什么都学会,也没有必要。那么我们必须学会什么,掌握什么呢?不在英语国家生活工作的人至少应该学会和掌握如下的英语口语能力:对自我他人和一般事务的描述能力;对中国传统文化和习俗的解说能力;对国内外话题的会话和讨论的能力。能使自己具备这几个能力的是“功能英语Functional English”、“会话英语Conversational English”和“主题英语Topical English”。至于“情景英语Situational English”在非英语的中国没有太大用处,因为,“银行英语”、“饭店英语”、“酒店英语”等之类的情景英语(其实应该属于“职业英语Occupational English”)在各个英语国家都有不同的表达系统。 围绕上面三大能力的学习和掌握我们可以建立一个口语系统。但必须保证,这个系统中的语言是国际英语共用的部分,而非英、美、澳特定的英语口语。五、英语口语学习方法明确的学习方向有了,就要选择有效的学习方法。方法得当的话既省时省力也省钱。有人怪口语上不去是没有语言环境。出国到英语国家?到英语角?找讲英语的老外单练?让我们分别来看看这几个方面。 1、到英语国家 能到英语国家去练习英语,直接与英语本族人交流当然是最佳的选择,但能够这样做的人为数并不多。有的人在英语国家生活了几年乃至十几年,照样说不好英语。如果学习方向和方法得当,不去英语国家一样可以学好英语。关键在于解决跟谁学,学什么,怎么学这几个问题。此外,学以致用,学习和练习有机地结合,并持之以恒才有效果。学到的技能如果不大量练习,久而久之一定会忘记。 2、到英语角 如果去英语角的目的是学习就不对了。其实应该把那里当作练习英语表达的地方,在那里充分展示自己,建立起说英语的信心,锻炼自己与不同的人说英语的胆量和能力。去那里要的是一种志同道合的氛围。如果没有时间去,你还可以自言自语,把自己想象成两个人在对话。 3、找老外单练 除非是训练有素的语言教师,一般的英语老外惟一的用处是:作为你操练口语的“活靶子”,把自己学到的说话内容在英语老外身上得以验证。不要期望一般的英语老外会对你口语方面有什么好的指点,不建议你跟老外谈语法,谈语言学习规律。 英语口语好的人都有这样的同感:从练发音(对腔和调进行大量练习)开始效果甚佳。不要总想着这句话怎么写,怎么翻译。这些都会妨碍口语学习。最后,经验证明,选择好的导师、好的教材,加上科学、理性的学习方法,学说英语没有不成功的!★★★参加口语班 点击【参考资料】 参加免费口语体验课★★★
