英语分数的表示法：1、用“基数词＋序数词”表示，分数在英语中通常是借助于基数词和序数词来共同表达的；2、其中基数词表示分子，序数词表示分母；3、例如：The centimeter is one-tenth of the decimeter or one-hundredth of the meter：厘米是分米的十分之一,或者说是米的百分之一；4、However,the number of boys will bea third or less than the girls in the class：但是，班里男生的人数将比女生少三分之一或更少；5、从以上例子可以看出：分子除用one外，也可用a；如果分子大于1，分母要用复数形式。但是1／2不能说a second，而要说a half。

英语分数的表达方式有：

一、用“基数词＋序数词”表示。

二、用per cent等表示。

三、用part表示。

四、用“基数词＋介词＋基数词”表示等。

例如：

1/6：a/one sixth 1/5：one/a fifth。

2/3：twothirds 4/9：four ninths。

3/5：three fifths 7/8：seven eighth。

说明：

1) 1/2通常读作a/one half，一般不读作a second。

2) 1/4可读作a/one fourth，也可读作a/one quarter。

3)在数学上，为了简洁起见，分子和分母均可用基数词，其间用介词over连接，对于比较复杂的分数通常采用此读法。

例如：

3/4读作three over four。

8/9读作eight over nine。
