英文compare、comparative、comparison主要从词性不同、含义不同和用法不同来区分。
1、词性不同
compare：可以作动词比较，也可以为名词。
comparative：是形容词，相对的的意思。
comparison：是名词。比较； 对比；相比。
2、含义不同
compare：
v. 比较; 对比; 与…类似(或相似); 表明…与…相似; 将…比作;
n. 比较;
例如：Compare this new TV set with the old one, you will see which is better.
将这台新电视机与旧电视机一比，你就会看出哪一台更好一些。
comparative：是相对的的意思。例如：The task was accomplished with comparative ease.
相对而言，任务完成得比较轻松。
comparison：比较； 对比；相比。例如：Its recommendations are based on detailed comparisons between the public and private sectors。
建议是建立在对国营部门与私营部门进行详细比较的基础上的。
3、用法不同
compare：可以直接+名词的复数，比如：compare A with/to/and B
comparative：作为形容词，后面一般跟名词。例如：a comparative success/相对而言的成功
comparison：一般用于 in/by comparison with/to/one another
