Confucius的意思是“孔夫子”，孔子本命叫孔丘，别称就是孔子、尼父、孔夫子。

孔子生而七漏，头上圩顶（意为头顶凹陷），而又因其母曾祷于尼丘山，故名“丘”，字“仲尼”。鲁昭公五年（公元前537年），孔子已意识到要努力学习做人与生活之本领。

美学思想：

孔子的美学思想核心为“美”和“善”的统一，也是形式与内容的统一。孔子提倡“诗教”，即把文学艺术和政治道德结合起来，把文学艺术当作改变社会和政治的手段，陶冶情操的重要方式。并且孔子认为，一个完人，应该在诗、礼、乐修身成性。孔子的美学思想对后世的文艺理论影响巨大。
