现在完成时有两种用法，第一：过去发生的某件事对现在造成影响，并且影响还存在；第二：发生在过去的某件事一直持续到现在。你说的这个句子我看过原文，前面是说的乔的花园比另一个人的有情趣，所以这里是现在完成时的第一种用法，强调对现在的影响。改成一般现在时虽然在中文里觉得没差别，但是在英文上就有很大的差别了，后面的完全不能体现他建这些东西的意义。
