Don't Open the Wrong Window A girl was leaning over the windowsill of her own bedroom when she saw her neighbor burying a puppy, which was so lovely that the little girl usually played with it.Seeing the puppy dead, the little girl couldn't help bursting into tears from her broken heart. When her grandfather witnessed this, he led the little girl to another room and opened another window. Looking out of this window, she found it was a sunshiny rose garden with the birds singing and the air permeated with the fragrance of flowers. Instantly the little girl became cheerful without any anxiety on her face. The old man told his granddaughter kindly,"My dear, you just opened a wrong window."

I was on vacation in Hawaii with my family. We were at the beach all day and at some point I took off my ring I got as a gift from my mom for graduation (beautiful, gold, inscribed, full of sentimental value) and placed it in the cup holder of a foldable chair. Beach day continues, and we pack up and go home. Once home, I realize what I've done. I realize my ring isn't on my finger. Panic ensues.

We race back to the beach with only 20 minutes to spare before sunset. Get to the beach and locate the general area wewere laying out earlier.

About 15 strangers in the area got down on their hands and knees to help my sobbing mess self search for my ring. And they helped me to the end. Eventually in a stroke of luck, I find the ring. I stand up and exclaim to the group of kind strangers "I found it". They all crowd around me so happy and congratulatory as though they had stake in this game. My tears of loss turn into tears of joy and thankfulness for the amazing effort put forth by this group of people.

If you have a small child in your life, "Letters from Heaven" is a wonderful new tradition you can start for your family that will last for many generations.

Susie shared the idea on her Facebook page, including two videos of her 18-year-old daughter, Abby, opening the time capsule for the first time.

"This week Abby turned 18. For her 1st birthday we asked all our loved ones to write her a letter to be put in a time capsule that would be opened 17 years later. It is the most precious gift we could have ever given to her. Among the 25 letters are 7 letters from people who have passed on. These include letters from her Grandfather Doug, her uncle John Aldershof, great grandparents and more."

"We cried and laughed all night. Such a blessing to have birthday wishes from everyone. The time capsule was full of great things for her. If you have a small child in your life, please share this idea. It was incredible."

We found him a few weeks ago, walking along the road in a rural area. He was jumping on cars, and we thought maybe his family was camping somewhere nearby, so we passed him by. A few hours later, on our return trip, he was still in the same place, again, trying to get folks to stop for him. When he saw us, he laid down in the middle of the road, so we were unable to get around him.

We stopped the car and looked around for a few minutes, trying to figure out if anyone was around from whom he was separated. It didn't appear so. Then we took a good look at the dog. He had no collar and he was really thin. We decided he was abandoned.

My husband said, "If he doesn't bite me when I try to pick him up to put him in the car, then we have a new dog." The dog happily joined us with no fight at all. The only thing we were in danger of was getting licked to death. He kept sticking his head between the two front seats and thanking us for picking him up.

The dog was clearly on the road for some time. He was extremely under weight. He was covered in scars and new wounds. We have surmised that some of the scars were from when he was on the road, we are thinking possible fights with coyotes, but he also looks as though he was used for fighting other dogs. We figured his incredibly sweet personality was the reason he was abandoned. He must not have been a good fighting dog.

So, we fed him a lot over the course of the next two weeks and he gained over twenty pounds. We took him to the veterinarian, who said the dog appears to be in good health, despite his having been abandoned. The vet guessed the dog is about two or three years of age, from the condition of his teeth. The vet gave him all the required shots and sent us on our way.

We do love this dog. He has obviously been mistreated and yet, he still is so very sweet. He had no manners, but he is a quick learner. He no longer tries to get on the bed, but he does like sitting in one of the folding chairs.

Since then, he has become a member of our family.

For when my loathing it of heat deprives me, I know not whether my mind's whirlwind drives me. Even as a headstrong courser bears away, His rider vainly striving him to stay, Or as a sudden gale thrusts into sea, The haven touching bark now near the lea, So wavering Cupid brings me back amain, And purple Love resumes his darts again. Strike boy, I offer thee my naked breast, Here thou hast strength, here thy right hand doth rest. Here of themselves thy shafts come, as if shot, Better then I their quiver knows them not. Hapless is he that all the night lies quiet and slumb'ring, thinks himself much blessed by it. Fool, what is sleep but image of cold death, Long shalt thou rest when Fates expire thy breath. But me let crafty damsels words deceive, Great joys by hope I inly shall conceive. Now let her flatter me, now chide me hard, Let me enjoy her oft, oft be debarr'd. Cupid by thee, Mars in great doubt doth trample, And thy step-father fights by thy example. Light art thou, and more windy then thy wings, Joys with uncertain faith thou tak'st and brings. Yet Love, if thou with thy fair mother hear , Within my breast no desert empire bear. Subdue the wandring wenches to thy reign, So of both people shalt thou homage gain. 高中英语必背经典美文篇三 the price of a miracle 奇迹的价格 Tess was a precocious eight-year-old girl when she heard her Mom and Dad talking about her little brother, Andrew. All she knew was that he was very sick and they were completely out of money. 奇迹的价格.jpg They were moving to an apartment complex next month because Daddy didn't have the money for the doctor's bills and our house. Only a very costly surgery could save him now and it was looking like there was no-one to loan them the money. She heard Daddy say to her tearful Mother with whispered desperation, “Only a miracle can save him now.” Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, 她仔细地把硬币放回瓶子并把盖子拧好 she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door. She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a noise. So how much does a miracle cost?” “We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you,” the pharmacist said, softening a little. “Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.”
