原创：                                    Yu Gong's story    There was an  old man called  "the Foolish Old Man " in the northern hill.    He was about ninety years old,and he lived against the hill.He was suffered from the hill because of the traffic.One day,he could not stand it anymore .So he called his family to a meeting . They decided to move  away the  mountains  and lead the road to the south of Yuzhou,and reached the south bank of the Han River. His wife wondered if he could move away the mountains.And where could he put the soil and rock? Most people agreed they could throw them to the Bohai.Then the Foolish old Man  fronted three persons from his sons and grandsons,and did their work.A clever old man wanted to stop him from doing that,and said,"You are too stupid.You are very old,and you have less energy,what can you do with the two mountains?"    But the Foolish Old Man said that his family could coninue to do it after he died. The mountains would not change.In the end,the Emperor of Heaven was moved by his sincere desire and ordered the two sons of the Hercules  to do the work.    At last,the Foolish Old Man became successful.译文：在北山有一个老人叫“愚公”。他年近90岁。他住在山对面。由于家门被山挡住，每次外出全家人都要绕过大山，多走很多路。一天，愚公受不了了，就把全家人召集到一起。妻子说：“凭你的力量，连一座小山丘也移不走，何况这两座大山呢？再说，你就是能移走，那土石往哪里放呢？”愚公说：“渤海那么大，可以把土石扔到渤海里去。”说干就干，愚公带领子孙们挖起山来。河曲的智叟看见了，笑着阻止道：“你真是太傻了！以你的残年余力，连山上的一根草都动不了，更何况大山？”愚公叹了口气说：“你错了。你想想，我死了以后还有我的儿子，我的儿子又有儿子，子子孙孙没有穷尽！可是山上的土石不会增加，还怕挖不走吗？”愚公移山的事很快被玉皇大帝知道了。玉帝被愚公坚韧不拔的精神所感动，便派大力神把两座大山背走了。这个故事告诉我们：只要有决心，有毅力，再难的事情也能办成。

愚公移山 （How Yu Gong Moved Away Two High Mountains）There were two high mountains between Jizhou in the south and Heyang in the north. One was called Taihang Mountain and the other Wangwu Mountain. Both of the mountains were very high. Just to the north of the mountains lived an old man called Yu Gong who was nearly 90 years old. With the two high mountains just in front of his house, his family and he had to walk a long way around the mountains whenever they had something to do on the other side of the mountains.One day, Yu Gong called all his family together to talk about how to move the two mountains to other places. His wife said, "An old man like you cannot even move a small hill, not to mention the two high mountains. Even if you can, where can you throw so much earth and stone?""The Bohai Sea is big enough to contain all the earth and stone," Yu Gong said. So it was decided. His children started to dig the mountains, led by the old man Yu Gong.A man named Zhi Sou saw them working and tried to stop them, saying, "You are so silly! You're so old and weak that you can't even take away the grass and trees. How can you move the high mountains?""You're wrong," Yu Gong said with a sigh. "Look, my sons can continue my work after my death. When my sons die, my grandchildren will continue. So generations after generations, there's no end. But the mountains can't grow higher. Do you still say I can't move them away?"Later the Heaven God, upon learning of Yu Gong's story, was greatly moved. Two big mountains blocked Yugong's way out. Yugong decided to move the mountain. He got the support of his family and took action immediately. Later, an old man named Zhisou objected to his move.

两座大山挡住了愚公家的出路，愚公决定移山，得到了全家的支持，并立即行动，后来有一个叫智叟的老头反对他移山。

In the end, the Mountain God helped Yu Gong remove the two mountains, and Yu Gong's wish came true.

还讲了很多不利于愚公的理由，愚公驳斥了智叟的错误观点，最后山神帮助愚公移走了两座大山，愚公的愿望实现了。

赏析：

全文篇幅短小，然而却写得曲折多姿，波澜起伏，加之行文紧凑，笔墨舒洒自如，令人读后兴味盎然。文章摆出了人和山的矛盾，写愚公“聚室而谋”，全家人纷纷表示赞成，接着就该是行动起来一起移山，谁知愚公之妻献疑，产生了波折，而所疑的都是移山中碰到的具体问题，这些具体问题不解决，那人和山的矛盾也就不能解决。

经过讨论，商量了办法，出现了移山劳动的盛况，接着就该是苦战不休，不料跳出来个智叟，形成了移山的阻碍，老愚公就和智叟展开了激烈的辩论，在辩论中揭示出寓言所包含的哲理思想，这样既突显了愚公精神的可贵，同时深化了作品的主题思想。

在一个仅有三百余字的简单的故事里，将较多的矛盾集中起来描写，能够收到戏剧性的艺术效果，否则顺流平坡地写下去，还不只是索然寡味，更重要的是所要强调的内容得不到强调，不能使主题通过人物形象的塑造而圆满地表达出来。

一般地讲，从简单中见复杂，在情节安排上并不容易，因此处理得不好，就会使人感到复杂中仍然显得简单。
