杭州湾（Hangzhou Bay，Hongzhou Wan） 位于中国浙江省东北部。有钱塘江注入，是一个 喇叭形 海湾。湾口宽约复95千米，海宁一带仅宽3千米。自乍浦至仓前，七堡至闻家堰一带水下形成巨制大的沙坎(洲)，长130千米，宽约27千米，厚约20米。北侧金山卫一乍浦之间的沿岸海底有一 巨大的冲刷槽 ，最深约40米。湾底的地貌形态和海湾的 喇叭形特征 ，使这里常出现涌潮或暴涨潮2113。杭州湾以海宁潮（钱塘潮）著称，是 中国沿海潮差最大的海湾 ， 历史上最大潮差曾达8.93米 (澉浦）。湾外为5261舟山群岛。 杭州湾4102架起世界最长的跨海大桥 千万年以来，由于受到浪高流急的杭州湾天堑阻隔，宁波几乎成为一个交通“盲肠”。从宁波到上海和苏南、苏北地区必须绕道杭州，呈“V”字形走向。而杭州湾跨海大桥1653的建设，将从根本上改变长江三角洲的交通格局， 呈“A”字形或者说“十”字形布局 。同时，这座桥也将成为连接中国大陆南北沿海经济发达地区黄金走廊的一座“ 廊桥 ”。宁波杭州湾新区，宁波市下辖行政管理区，宁波前湾新区组成区，是国家级产城融合示范区、沪甬合作示范区、浙沪合作示范区、环杭州湾大湾区高水平示范区，是“一带一路”、长江经济带、长江三角洲区域一体化三大国家战略叠加的交汇点。宁波杭州湾新区位于浙江省宁波市北部，宁波杭州湾跨海大桥南岸，地处沪杭甬经济圈中心，居于上海市、宁波市、杭州市、苏州市的几何中心，是宁波市接轨上海、融入长三角的门户地区，也是中国长三角经济圈中最具发展潜力的战略要地。

宁波杭州湾新区位于浙江省宁波市北部，宁波杭州湾跨海大桥南岸，居于上海、宁波、杭州、苏州等大都市的几何中心，是宁波接轨大上海、融入长三角的门户地区。
全区规划陆域面积353平方公里，海域面积350平方公里，现辖1个镇，拥有常住人口17.7万余人。宁波杭州湾新区是中国沿海地区十分难得的战略要地，两小时交通圈内可覆盖中国人口最密集、经济发展速度最快、生活水平最高的地区。
2010年2月23日，宁波杭州湾新区党工委、管委会正式挂牌成立。
