真爱会等待。不能容忍和等待的是欲望、迷恋，而不是真爱。旧约《雅歌》中好几次提道：“不要叫醒我所亲爱的，要等他自己情愿。”一个人要得着真正的爱就必须知道，真正的爱是会忍耐，且是恒久忍耐的，并且在话语中要有恩慈、行动中也要有恩慈。所有要“现在”、“立刻”、“马上”得到的爱都不是真爱。

经文有一句话的意思是：不要列清单，不要把别人做错的事牢牢记住。忘记别人的缺点，这才是真正的爱。
6.爱是凡事包容
真正的爱，应该是清楚地知道对方的优点和缺点，却在爱中包容对方。
7.爱是凡事信任
凡事信任不是相信人，而是相信神有恩典。
8.爱是凡事盼望
要对爱充满希望，相信未来。
9.爱是凡事忍耐
忍耐是指就算爱没有回报，仍不改变爱的心志，但忍耐不是没有原则的爱。
10.爱是永不止息
