疑问句：提出问题。有以下四种：
一，一般疑问句：用yes或者no回答的问句，通常是助动词提到句首；
例句：
---Can you finish the work on time? ---Yes，I can.
---你能按时完成工作吗？ --是的。
---Are you expecting visitors? ---No.
---你在等客人吗？ ---- 不是的。
---Did she tell you her name? ---Yes.
--她告诉你她的姓名了吗？---是的。
2. 特殊疑问句；用特殊疑问词如what、where、which、who、how、how many、how old对事情、地点、具体哪一个、人、方式、数量、年龄等等提问。疑问词放在句首，后面是帮助提问的助动词；回答不能用yes或者no，可以简略回答。
例句：
---What does "evidence" mean? ---证据.
---“evidence”是什么意思？---证据。
---Who is your favourite writer? ---Lu Xun （ is my favourite writer）.
---谁是你特别喜欢的作家？ ----鲁迅。
--- Where do you live? --- （I live）In Beijing
--- 你住哪儿？ ---北京
3. 选择疑问句，用选择连词or连接俩个或者以上的选项让选择，可以是一般疑问句+选项；也可以是特殊疑问句+选项；
例句：
---Do you want tea or coffee? ----Tea
--你是要茶还是要咖啡？---茶。
---Are you going out or coming back？---Nether.
---你是要出去还是回来？--- 都不是。
---Which do you want, a pencil or a pen？---Either.
--铅笔和钢笔，你要哪一个？---都行。
4. 反意疑问句：陈述句加上附加的疑问句形式；原则上，前肯后否，前否后肯；回答根据事实来回答，事实是肯定就是yes，事实是否定就是no。
例句：
He doesn't know her, does he?
他不认识她，对不对？
You're late, aren't you?
你迟到了，对吧？
I have already told you, haven't I？
我已经告诉过你了，对吗？

why是“为什么”的意思，一般用来询问原因，作为问句开头，比如Why don't you go to sleep？你为什么不去睡觉。也可以作为从句使用，比如，This is the reason why I don't go to sleep.这就是我为什么不去睡觉的原因。
