Dear Mary,
Thanks for your last letter. I'm so glad that you have been able (at last! ) to arrange a holiday in Australia.
As I fear I won't be able to meet you at the airport when you arrive, nor will I be able to be home until later in the afternoon, so here are some instructions and suggestions.
There is a bus from the airport to the city. It is much cheaper than a cab. Take the bus to the city and ask to get off at Town Hall railway station.
To get to my place in the eastern suburbs you have three options. You can either take a cab, a bus or the train. I suggest you take the train, since the airport bus will leave you right at the station.
Get off at Cliff Station. From there you can either walk to my place (about ten minutes) or take a taxi. Probably you should take a taxi as you will have luggage.
When you arrive at my flat, ring the intercom for Flat 2. My friend Lillian will be at home and she will open the front door for you and let you into my flat.
Presumably you will be tired and want to sleep. But if you feel like some exercise after that long flight, you could stroll down to Cooper Park, which is only ten minutes away ? you can see it from the window.

一、信头：指发信人的地址和日期，写在信纸的右上角。
二、称呼：指对收信人的地址和称呼。写在信头之下，从信纸的左边开始。写信给熟悉的人，如王明一般用Dear Wang Ming或Dear Mr. Wang。
三、信的正文：指信的主体部分，从称呼的下一行到结束语前，第一段顶头写。
四、结束语：指正文下面的结束客套话。常用Yours sincerely, Yours ever,或者Yours或Yours truly,Truly Yours等。
五、签名：指发信人的签名，写在结束语的下面。
六、地址：地址是从小到大，按照街道-区-市-省的格式依次写
七、日期可以是日-月-年，也可以是月-日-年。

英文地址的写法与中文相反，按地址单元从小大到的顺序从左到右书写，并且地址单元间以半角逗号分隔，最后一行则写上国家的名称。例如：中国湖南省长沙市雨花区中意路1号(No.1 Zhongyi Rd,Yuhua district, ChangshaCity,Hunan Prov,China)。
需要注意的地方有如下几处：
1、英语句号是实心点，而不是小圆圈，如果英语的句号也和汉语一样，则容易和字母“o”相混淆。
2、英语的省略号“…”是3点，不是像汉语那样用6点“……”。
3、字符号不要写得太长，写长了容易跟破折号混淆。其长度应该与一个字母的宽度相当。破折号的长度约占两个字母的位置。书写破折号时，与前后的单词应有一定的距离。
4、英语中没有顿号“、”。要表示句中较短的并列词语之间的停顿，汉语习惯用顿号，而英语只能用逗号；汉语中连词“和”、“及”等之前不可用顿号，而英语中连接一系列并列的“and”或“or”之前往往可以用逗号。
