科举The Imperial Examination The Analects (Traditional Chinese: 论语; Simplified Chinese: 论语; Pinyin: Lún Yǔ), also known as the Analects of Confucius, are a record of the words and acts of the central Chinese thinker and philosopher Confucius and his disciples, as well as the discussions they held. The Chinese title literally means "discussion over [Confucius'] words."Written during the Spring and Autumn Period through the Warring States Period (ca. 479 BCE - 221 BCE), the Analects is the representative work of Confucianism and continues to have a tremendous influence on Chinese and East Asian thought and values today. The Four Books and Five Classics (Traditional Chinese: 四书五经; Simplified Chinese: 四书五经; Pinyin: Sìshū Wŭjīng) are the authoritative books of Confucianism in China written before 300 BCE.The Four Books are Chinese classic texts that Zhu Xi selected, in the Song dynasty, as an introduction to Confucianism: the Great Learning (大学), the Doctrine of the Mean (中庸), the Analects of Confucius (论语), and the Mencius (孟子).The Five Classics is a corpus of five ancient Chinese books used by Confucianism as the basis of studies. According to tradition, they were compiled or edited by Confucius himself. They are Classic of Changes (易经), Classic of Poetry (诗经), Classic of Rites (礼记), Classic of History (书经), and Spring and Autumn Annals (春秋)The Three Character Classic, Trimetric Classic or San Zi Jing (Traditional Chinese: 三字经; Simplified Chinese: 三字经) is one of the Chinese classic texts. It was probably written in the 13th century and attributed to Wang Yinglin (王应麟, 1223-1296) during the Song Dynasty. It is also attributed to Ou Shizi (区适子, 1234-1324).
