三、无论英国英语或美国英语，在需要突出年月日的场合（尤其是在正式文件中），均可采用以下表达法。即

四、书写时，还可以完全采用数字表示。这时，英国英语与美国英语在表达上大相径庭。即

五、不论英国英语或美国英语，书写时，月份还常用缩略式（May除外）。即

其中月份是专有名词，除了少数几个月份外都有缩写形式：

4、April - Apr. 四月
5、August - Aug. 八月
6、September - Sept. 九月
7、October - Oct. 十月
8、November - Nov. 十一月
9、December - Dec. 十二月
注意：缩写形式后面的点不能省略，因为它是表示缩写形式的符号。
1st June、22nd September、17th October、23rd February、19th May的简写形式如下：
1st June;22nd Sept.;17th Oct.;23rd Feb.;19th Mar.。(缩写形式后面的点不能省)
英语中的序数词如下图：
在美国，人们通常先说月份，再说日。
日期一般用缩写形式：

2、日期与星期排列时，通常是星期在前，日期在后。

他于5月10日(星期五)到达。
3、日期的缩写。
以-first结尾的，写成数字就要加st。如：thirty-first，31st。
以-second结尾的，写成数字就要加nd。如：twenty-second，22nd。
以-third结尾的，写成数字就要加rd。如：thirty-third，33rd。
