1、英文小说The Call of the Wild《野性的呼唤》
这部英文小说的作者是Jack London，这部小说主要讲了一只叫巴克原的狗，他生活在美国南部加州一个温暖的山谷里，后来种种原因被卖到美国北部阿拉斯加，成了一只拉雪橇的狗。这只狗目睹了强者与弱者之间为了生存冷酷无情的明争暗斗。为了活命，它变得阴险、机智。
2、The Secret Garden《秘密花园》
《秘密花园》这部英文小说的作者是Frances Hodgson Burnett，主人公玛丽是一个任性而又孤傲的富家小公主，不幸的是一场瘟疫让她变成了一个可怜的孤儿。随后她被在古老庄园生活的亲戚收养，她和表兄在秘密花园里恢复了孩子纯真善良的天性。
3、震撼人心的英文小说Frankenstein《弗兰肯斯坦》
这部英文小说作者是Mary Shelley。主要讲述科学家弗兰肯斯坦创造了一个丑陋的怪物，怪物本来心地善良，向往幸福和爱情，但得到的却是人类的驱赶和敌意，他请求弗兰肯斯再给他创造一个同类被拒绝。他的一生几乎都在悲惨中度过，后来他不顾一切的报复人类，最终和弗兰肯斯坦同归于尽。
在长期大量阅读了各类英文刊物和著作之后，最明显的进步就是词汇量有很大提升。而且这种积累是任何其他训练都无法带来的。而且看不同的读物，可以增加不同方面的词汇量。比如平时看The Economist，The New York Times等等一些刊物的话，可以积累很多比较正式，比较具有专业性的词汇。
如果是读一些当代通俗小说，畅销书的话，可以学到很多日常生活中常用的地道表达和很多描写性的词汇。最直观的就是简简单单的一个哭，就有weep、sob、wail、bawl等等无数种不同的表达。而且在小说中，有上下文的语境，更能让人体会到单词本身所描绘的人物情绪和情态，每种哭都是带着不同情绪、动作和表情的，这是单纯地背单词所无法带来的体验。
八宝爱上粥
《秘密花园》读书笔记这个星期，我读了一本叫《秘密花园》的书。读完之后，我深深地感到心灵受到了很大的震撼。一场可怕的瘟疫使10岁的小玛丽成了孤儿，不得不被送往画眉庄园。画眉庄园是一个古老而充满神秘感的地方，有被锁了10年的花园，有被秘密藏在房间里的小男孩。而玛丽的到来改变了一切。她发现被埋掉的花园钥匙和被隐藏起来的园门，也发现了那个被藏起来的小男孩，她的表哥克林。玛丽、克林、和荒野上长大的男孩一起，唤醒了沉睡10年的古老花园。读了这篇文章，我深深地体会到，只有乐观，积极，微笑，才会使我们有精神，也只有有精神，我们才会拥有健康。病痛，往往只有在我们心里。心里有病，才是最折磨人的病。人生不如意事就如满天繁星，如果一遇到挫折就郁郁寡欢，那这个人也就一生也不会快乐。遇到挫折，我们应该像文中的玛丽那样，微笑面对。例如桌子上只有半杯牛奶了，悲观的人，可能会唉声叹气地说：“太倒霉了，只剩下半杯牛奶了！”乐观的人，则可能微笑着说：“太好了，我还有半杯牛奶呢！”同样的境遇，心态不同，人生的轨道恐怕也会不同。就像我。有一次，我被铁钉扎到了，也不知道那铁钉有没有生锈。听同学说，如果破伤风的话，一个月便会死去。我吓得面都青了。回到家，我告诉了家人，可妹妹却乐观地说：“放心好了，没那么容易死。”我半信半疑。一个月很快就过了。一天，我突然感到十分头疼，我悲观地想：天哪，我还不想死！我立刻告诉了独个呆在家中的妹妹。妹妹想了想，说：“我看，是你着凉了，所以才头疼。”我不信，开始哇哇大哭起来，说什么“我快死了”之类的。无奈，妹妹叫回了正上班的妈妈，妈妈又把我送进医院。后来，医生诊断出我头疼是因为我感冒了，而我根本没有破伤风……同时，成人比孩子更容易忽视快乐，甚至漠视快乐。童年是一去不复返的光阴。在儿童时代的那种对快乐的天然领悟和完全接纳的能力，更是珍贵。 文中克兰文老爷在爱妻过世之后，埋了花园的钥匙，想借此阻断对爱妻的思念，但是这却使他沦为悲伤和痛苦的阶下囚。隔断快乐并不能换来宁静，它只能使你郁闷不堪，在孤独和痛苦中死亡，走向永远的黑暗。快乐是人生之本，人如果没有了快乐，就如行尸走肉一般。没有了快乐，也就没有了成功的喜悦；没有了失败的泪水；没有了失去后的珍惜；没有了一切的情感。 花园是在快乐中诞生，在悲剧中尘封，又是在快乐中开启，这是一个多么戏剧性的转变呐！读完《秘密花园》这本书后，我懂得了，让自己快乐起来！我们无法改变整个世界，但我们至少能够改变自己。要记住，让自己快乐起来！

主要考察的是现在完成进行时的知识点：
英语中动词的一种基本时态，其构成为：主语+助动词（have/has）+been+动词的现在分词+其他成分。表示动作从某一时间开始，一直持续到现在，或者刚刚终止，或者可能仍然要继续下去。
构成形式：
非第三人称单数:I / we / you / they have been + 动词的现在分词
第三人称单数:He / she / it has been + 动词的现在分词
用法：
（一）表示从过去某时开始一直持续到现在的动作，并且还将持续下去。The Chinese have been making paper for two thousand years.中国有2000年的造纸历史。（动作还将继续下去）
（二）表示在说话时刻之前到现在正在进行的动作。We have been waiting for you for half an hour.我们已经等你半个钟头了(人还没到，如同在电话里说的，还会继续等)
（三）有些现在完成进行时的句子等同于现在完成时的句子。They have lived in this city for ten years.他们在这个城市已经住了10年了。（动作还将继续下去）
