在英语中，一般不把某某老师说成是Teacher XXX，而是同样根据具体情况称呼为先生，女士。Teacher一词一般不会单独用来称呼，在中国课堂上会出现的“Good morning， teacher”其实并不是很常见的表达。

当然，在关系很好的情况下，你也会用非正式称呼一些重要人物。虽然大多数人称呼他们为Sir/Madam， 你也可以直接称呼其first name（Jack， Lily这种）。可见，称名还是称姓一定程度上可以反映关系的远近。

因此在英语中“on a first name basis” or “on first name terms”这两个词组可以用来形容那些本该有一定距离，却很友好的关系。比如：

My teacher and I are on first name terms。
