因为罗夏想把别人嫁祸给曼哈顿博士的真相公布于世界，但是这个真相是不能说出来的。罗夏的真名为沃特·寇瓦克斯（Walter Kovacs）。他从小就没有得到过家庭的温暖，经常会受到别人的欺辱，导致了他以后的暴力倾向。长大后的他在服装厂工作。
在《守望者》电影的结尾，罗夏因为不同意法老王让世界变成一个美好的乌托邦而牺牲数百万人的做法，没有选择妥协，而是自愿被曼哈顿博士杀死。
《守望者》（Watchmen）第4章中提到，罗夏的面具由是曼哈顿博士（Dr.Manhattan）制作的裙子改制而成。罗夏16岁的时候在服装厂当工人。
他22岁时用曼哈顿博士发明这个特殊布料给凯蒂·基诺维斯做裙子，双层布料中间的粘性流体对热量和压力敏感。但是凯蒂·基诺维斯嫌丑没有接受，罗夏觉得布料很美。两年之后凯蒂被杀，罗夏用那个布给自己做了这个面具。

如果罗夏还活着，那么他一定会向人们说清楚，关于纽约的核爆炸发生的缘由，是因为曼哈顿博士为了阻止俄美两国发动战争才做出的事情。如果没有人去说，那么世人就会一直误认为是曼哈顿博士要害死美国人，会把博士当做公敌。博士为了让地球保持和平，宁可被世人误会，到火星去生活。罗夏是个执着，正义的人，如果不说，自己也会很痛苦。博士杀死他那么就不存在痛苦，也会一直保守这个秘密了。这是我的理解。
