书写英文的日期有两种写法：
1、8th March,2004 或8 March,2004（英式写法）
2、March 8th,2004 或March 8,2004 （美式写法）
例：十月一日
写作：October 1, October 1st, 1 October, 1st October, (the) 1st of October等，其中的October都可以写成缩写形式Oct.
读作：October the first或the first of October
注意：
1、写法中，日期与月份之间不可加逗号。
2、写法中，年份前的逗号可以省略。
3、写法中，代表日期的序数词词尾（-st，-nd, -rd或-th）均可省略。
4、写法中，序数词前的定冠词the，一般可省略（尤其是以序数词开头的场合）；但在读法中，该定冠词则不省略。

英语日期的表示法：
英语中月份和星期名称都是专有名词(独一无二的东西比如 月亮 太阳)，它们的首字母必须大写，并且前面无需用冠词。
用英语表示日期，其顺序为“月日年”，日和年之间需用逗号隔开。如：August 2nd， 2003(2003 年 8 月 2 日)也可以用“日月年”来表示。如：10th May，2003(2003 年 5 月 10 日)。

年月日表示法：
1. 年份用基数词表示，一般写为阿拉伯数字，读时可以以hundred为单位，也可以以世纪、年代为单位分别来读。

月份表示方法：
在哪个月用介词in加第一个字母大写的月份词表示。例如：in May在五月； in July在七月。
为了简便起见，月份与日期连用时，月份常用缩写形式表示。
缩写形式除May，June，July外，其它的月份都由其前三个字母表示，但September除外。
