我仔细地看了一下新三第一41课,答复如下：1、“the closeness to nature"是接近大自然，所以不能用“the nature"代替。2、"There is so much variety that you never have to make do with second best",为什么不是"the second best". 这里的second best 是固定用法，表示次好的东西。3、"There is something comforting about the warm glow shed by advertisments on clod wet winter nights."这里复数"nights"表示无数个冬天的夜晚。"something you occassionally visit during the weekend"为什么这里的“weekend"用的是单数。during the weekend也是固定用法啊，表示在（整个）周末。4、“there is so much variety"..这句话算是什么意思？这里的variety解为何意？为什么不是“there are varieties".......因为variety是不可数名词，表示多样性。希望以上，帮助到你。

我倾向 as many 题目中是 as many exotic items as, 为many+复数名词 many是形容词，紧跟在名词前，中间不能加定冠词。文中是 as many of the exotic items as，为many of+the 复数名词。many 是代词，相当于many things,of+范围，表示。。。中的许多，所以通常这个表示范围的名词被认为是作者心中确定的部分，要加上定冠词。as...as...的结构在句子中可以承担很多成分，所以比较不好把握，建议就是找到这个结构的中心词就是第一个as后面的成分。因为第一个as是副词 所以后面才是中心词，第二个as是介词或连词作状语，所以这个偏正结构，“正”是第一个as 后面的,也就是主干部分因此把只保留as...as主干部分：这道题就变成了 loaded with 1) many of the items (文中所使用的） 2) many items.（题中所使用的）所以我认为在不区分many 和many of 的情况下都可以，但我个人倾向是many 因为就是表达许多的。。。 而不是。。。中的许多，尽管文中那样写，可能出题人自有打算吧。
