contrast的中文意思是对比，而comparison的中文意思是相比。
contrast 是不同处的比较，comparison 是相同处的比较。中文的区别就刚好是英文的区别。
例如,中文里你会说“善与恶的对比”而不会说“善与恶的相比”。英语也一样，是“contrast of good and evil”，而不是“comparison of good and evil”。
又例如，中文说：“和哥哥比起来，他完全不一样。”这里的“比”是明显的对比而不是相比。所以，英文就用“He's a complete contrast to his elder brother.”而不要“He's a complete comparison to his elder brother.”不过如果中文是“和哥哥比起来，他高一点。”这里的比是相比而不是对比。所以英文就用“He's taller in comparison to he elder brother.”但平常我们很少以这种拗口的方式说话，都只说“He's taller than his elder brother.”就行了。
