15110-张智峰 Laurence Today i picked “My Mum” written by Anthony Browne. i have read this book to my boy when he was a toddler. At that time he didn’t have much feeling about this book, and neither did i. When i started from the cover page without any words, he was attracted by the pic, and asked who’s that lady? I said the book’s title is “my mom”, let’s see what we can see in the book? When he turned to the front page which were full of beautiful flowers, he stared for a few seconds, i didn’t know why, for me i like the colors much coz that made me happy. Then we came to shape of heart, he said that was a sun, this saying may change some day when he read this book again and again. He particularly liked the pages when the “Mum” in book was doing the same thing with his own mum. Just as he saw the “Mum” in the book was a great painter, he said my mum would also did that very often, when i read “the Mum” was the strongest woman in the world, he didn’t know the meaning, i just made some gestures and mucsles to him, he was still confused, then i explained that Mummy always wear a very heavy backpack, he seems to be a little clear. this book was very suitable for a kid to understand, coz the words on every page was perfectly match to the pic. Just as when i read “My mum’s a magic gardener”, my boy may not get the meaning of “gardener”, but he saw the flower “the Mum” was holding, i tried to tell him that was what she growed, so “the Mum” was a gardener. Not matter which page he turned to, his interest was still there, that was enough, time would make him understand the book from his view. When i came to the page “she loves me, and she always will”, i said i will always love him, and asked if he could give me a hug, he sai of course. When i turn to the last page of flowers which had showed up at the front page too, he also liked to stared it for a few seconds. I thought it’s very benifitial to read from the cover to the back page, this may let us understand the author more easily.
