简约主义厨房的一大主要特点就是形式简洁，它的表现方式体现在厨房设计大多为简单的直线，横平竖直，减少不必要的装饰线条，用简单的直线强调空间的开阔感。由于直线型的设计较多，空间感很强，让人们在其中倍感舒适与清爽。
2、功能实用
说到简约厨房并不是说明要对厨房的实用功能让步，既然为简约风格，在厨房的设计中就会摒弃所有不必要的繁复支节，剩下最本质的功能，厨房里除了保留最基本的储藏、洗涤、烹饪等功能外，已很难找到其他不必要的东西，刀叉等实用工具也只是满足主妇的最基本需求，而不是多得让人分不清如何使用的各种工具。
简约人士眼中繁琐的功能被省略，底柜的设计也摒弃传统竖立在地面的形式，水、电、气的管线都被隐藏在墙内。
3、色彩偏冷
每一种风格都有自的代表色彩，偏冷的颜色是简约主义的代表色，这与简约主义的发源地北欧有着密不可分的关系，北欧的树种因天寒而材质颜色偏浅，人们的生活舒适而朴实，家居用品修饰成份较少，简单偏冷的颜色成为简约主义的一种代表语言。
