“等一等”的10种高级英语说法

导语：小伙伴们在日常生活里，一定遇到过各种各样需要对别人说等等的情况吧?我们都知道Wait/ Wait a minute / Just a second是最常用的“请等一下”的意思，但我们不可能在所有情况下都用这些来表达。

Hang / Hold on a moment

你正在忙但是很快就能结束手中的事去帮对方，这时候可以用这两个短语。另外，我们接电话时也会用到这两个短语，表示让对方稍等、先不要挂电话。

(你还没结束啊?)

I‘ll be right with you

Keep your shirt on

着不着急和穿不穿衬衫有什么关系?其实这个俚语的来源是这样子滴，当人们很生气，准备打架的.时候，他们就会脱掉自己的衬衣，想想很多电影还真是这样。(小E猜脱掉衣服可以增加灵活性吧~)现在Keep your shirt on常用来劝人冷静点、耐心点。

Bear with me

Bear在这里意为“支撑”，“忍受”，这种用法很有礼貌，也很正式。用到这个短语的时候，我们往往可能需要让对方耐心地等我们很久。

这句大家应该也很熟了!当你需要时间思考才能给对方答案的时候，可以使用这个短语。

Sit tight

Sit tight这个习惯用语的意思是：不要采取任何行动，要耐心等待。

eg：

Just sit tight， the doctor will be with you in a minute.

(耐心等一下，医生马上就来看你。)

Cool (one‘s) heels

我们都知道Cool是冷却下来的意思，如果按照字面意思直译，这个词就变成了把你的脚跟冷却下来。是不是很奇怪?其实，它指的是让某人久等的意思。

据说这个短语产生于16世纪，原指马蹄在跑了很长一段路后，开始变热，主人必须停下来歇息，让马蹄凉下来后再赶路。

eg：

Do not make your guests cool their heels when you have appointments with them.

(同客人订了约会就不该让人家久等。)
