其区别见下面例子：There are many milk cows in the farm.农场有很多奶牛。The cowshed is built on the farm.农场里建的有牛棚.

在农场用on，on the farm表示“在农场里”，这是英语习惯用法。介词on用于地点，主要指在某物的表面。表示某一点位置用at，与名词所有格连用表示地点也用at。表示空间或范围用in。
“在农场里”介词用on，不用in。
in与on的使用：
on表示“在物体的表面上”，而in表示“在其中”。
指能用in的表达方式有in the morning，in the afternoon，in the evening和in the night。
只能用on的表达方式有on the next morning，on the following afternoon，on the preceding evening，on the night before，on the morning of 6 January等。
at、in、on、to、for
at表示在小地方; 表示“在......附近，旁边”
in表示 在大地方; 表示“在......范围之内”。
on表示毗邻，接壤，“在......上面”。
to表示在......范围外，不强调是否接壤；或“到......”
