两个单词的中文意思差不多，主要用法不同：

1、temporary[ˈtemprəri]，n.临时工，临时雇员，adj.短暂的，临时的，暂时的。

示例：Most adolescent problems are temporary.

中文：多数青春期的问题都是暂时的。

2、Interim['ɪnt(ə)rɪm]，adj.暂时的，临时的;期中的；n.间歇，过渡期间;临时协定。

示例：But, in the interim, we obviously have a duty to maintain law and order.

中文：但是，在过渡时期我们显然有责任维持法律与秩序。

3、temporary主要用于形容一些突发性的事件，比如货物临时售罄，这个时候就用temporary out of stock。这个临时（temporary）大多用在这样没有固定开始和结束的临时。

4、Interim则是用于形容一些有时间限制的临时性，比如you can see the interim report，你可以看临时报告，因为这里的临时报告之后会有正式的。所以有时间限制的临时就用interim。
