会计主体又称会计实体，是指会计工作为其服务的特定单位或组织，也就是说只要在经济上相对独立的企业、单位等组织都可以成为会计主体。持续经营假设的涵义是：除非存在明显的“反证”，否则，都将假设一个主体的经营活动是连续下去的。而所谓的“反证”，就是那些表明企业经营活动将会中止的证据，如合同规定的经营期限即将到期、企业资不抵债已被宣告破产、国家法律明文规定要求停业清算等。
